I saw a domain under Status: Redemption Period. How can i backorder it or grab it like what they do at Snapnames? The registrar for the domain is http://www.allindomains.com. Where should i go to backorder or snap it when it drops?

Below is the info of the domain.

Status: redemptionPeriod
Updated Date: 16-dec-2006
Creation Date: 05-nov-2005
Expiration Date: 05-nov-2006

But the registrar is http://www.allindomains.com, Is there a backorder service that can make sure i get the domain?

The registrar does not matter. Also there is no service that can guarantee a backorder...its sort of like a raincheck at a supermarket, but everybody wants it and there is only 1 to go around :)

So do you mean i should backorder in multiple services like Snapnames, Godaddy and Pool? Is this 3 good enough or do i need to backorder in more places? Will i get back my money if the backorder failed?

They will only charge you credit card if the backorder is successful.

Yes, some registrars do auction off domains before they enter redemption period. I'm not sure about allindomains.com, but it's already in redemption period, so that won't be the case.

Well that link you posted above goes to doster - who as far as I can see uses www.namewinner.com

On namewinner.com it says the following:

"We are pleased to announce that domain names previously available for bidding on NameWinner are now available on SnapNames.com. We have partnered with SnapNames to auction Dotster's expiring domains. This change allows us to focus our efforts on building the best domain monetization system for our customers. We are days away from the launch of the new RevenueDirect domain monetization system."

So it looks like Snapnames "may be the place to backorder it" - I say may because I have'nt tried to get an allindomains name before.

Take a look at the links and see what you think, good luck :)

Thats not exactly true - most drop companies have register partners now so the domains are often passed and not always dropped and snatched.

Gazzip-This is true (speaking of registrars) but if the name is already in redemption that is out of the question.

try snapnames, you don't pay if you don't get it.

Ok, clearing up some misconceptions from above.

1) Where the domain is registered DOES matter. You can tell (95% of the time) where the domain will go when it "expires" or "drops" based on who the current registrar is. For example, every domain at NetworkSolutions will end up at SnapNames.com , and every domain registered at NameScout.com will end up at Pool.com. It would be a waste to backorder a domain registered at NetSol at Pool, because Pool will never get the domain.
2) The only time it makes sense to use any more than 1 drop service is if a) You don't know who the registrar partners with or b) The registrar is a free-duck and the domain in question really will be "dropping" in a free-for-all fashion (Not likely) or c) You're too lazy to check and find out. If you don't know or don't have the ability to find out where the domain will be going, then use any dropcatcher you can find; almost all of them are 100% free unless they catch the domain for you.
asianinvasion and gazzip's posts were good, just adding to them.

Those bits about Network Solutions and SnapNames and Namescout and Pool
are for expired domain names that the registrar still holds. Kahsoon said the 1
in question is in redemption period.

I have indeed the exactly same problem:

Registrar: CORE INTERNET COUNCIL OF REGISTRARS
Whois Server: whois.corenic.net
Referral URL: http://www.corenic.net
Name Server: NS1.IMOS.NET
Name Server: NS2.IMOS.NET
Status: redemptionPeriod
Updated Date: 18-dec-2006

It's a good name that normally should not be unnoticed. Thus, what sould I do?

Try all backordering services? Forget about it?

I tried to backorder via Snapnames, but it shows "Releases on: n/a", normally if a domain is expired it will show when it will be released, why is it different in this case?

never never never.

GoDaddy is a great registrar, but has one of the worst backorder services.

It failed on me 20 times in a row on crappy names. And when one of the names got dropped, GoDaddy didn't register it after over 24 hours later.

Can somebody answer this? Or did i backorder at the wrong place?

Make sure you tick the boxes at the top of the search function and change the date to anytime at snapnames + remove the length specs.

try it again :)

I did exactly that but still it doesn't show release date. Does it mean the domain won't be dropped? Based on the domain expiry date i posted, it should show release date right?
