About a year ago I spent $200 the minimum AI registration price for a 3 letter domain, YJE.AI, for a 2 year term I thought I'd be able to sell this easy. I was wrong. It took me a year and I sold it on Ebay for $400, Was I lucky to get that or did I sell it for too low a price? I think I originally tried to sell it for either $2,500 or $1,500 I forget which and after a year I dropped this to $400. Had I known the outcome, I never would have registered an AI domain for $200 for 2 years. I thought .AI was hot at the time and I couldn't pass up a 3 letter one.

I also registered the name Elmore.AI and I thought I was sitting on a Goldmilne cause this would be a great name for an AI company. I was counting my Millions. AH the dreams. I haven't had any offers or enquiries. If you had this domain name what would you sell it for?

$200, sounds like GoDaddy pricing. There are much cheaper alternatives. Speaking of alternatives, have you tried other venues besides Afternic? I see you use AN Request price lander, but of course everyone can see this moonshot on GoDaddy:

For comparison, the biggest reported .ai sales:

ebay wow
that's lucky indeed

ebay is shit for domains

also 3l ai is far from sure sale... u need good letters... best is pronouncable

and those are basically regged

so u are stuck with crap that most likely wont sell

at their ripoff fee of 150 to reg on avg... it's not worth a punt

if u gotta spend on .ai better get 4 or 5 or 6 letter fully pronouncable stuff. brandable type. not 1word cause those are all gone in 4 to 6 letter

so try stuff like trenor Figalo brap.... u get point

if i had that domain, or the one you sold, i would have given them away, possibly even paid someone to take them. so you're a leg up

There is not much market for random LLL in any extension outside .COM. Especially with $80+ yearly renewals.
So, I think you did fine there.

Also, what is so special about "Elmore"?

What is Special about Elmore? It is an easy memorable name especially for a process or company called Elmore.AI

I mean, that is true for any term.

You need a bigger pool of end users to make $80/year carrying costs make sense.

For Elmore to be a “goldmine,” it would need to clearly align with the .ai extension — and that connection isn’t exactly obvious.

Shoot... mcm.ai just sold for 50k four days ago :xf.laugh:

But I get what you mean. You either have to be extremely selective with the LLL.ai or have deep enough pockets to have enough to increase your odds that some company wants one of your LLL.ai domains and it sells for 50k.

I don't know what $80 carrying coss is. It costs aprox $100 off the top of my head to get an AI domain on Godaddy. $200 specifically for 2 years. I don't agree with your idea of names. First of all it is hard to get an AI with a name. Secondly, Elmore is a distinct name.

Well we totally disagree on peoples names with a .AI. Why don't you see how many names are available with.AI
