Woke up today and BINGO - an e-mail from SEDO.

Someone has made an offer on one of your domains.

Aceept/Negotiate/Decline

I accepted the offer, just waiting for the "process" to kick-in.

And I thought SEDO was just a place to park domains :duhhh:

Congratulations!
Be prepared for a possibly long process though. They aren't near as fast as Afternic on getting the deal done.
Good luck with your other names too.

Agreed, and that's why I always prefer to trade on AfterNIC. The folks @ AfterNIC stay on top of the transaction until it's done. If the buyer starts acting flakey, they do their best to get the buyer to close as quickly as possible.

Congrats and hope the buyer is serious about the offer.

I got an offer for one of my best domains a week ago too. Offer was for $xxxx, but seems like buyer was just joking since one guy from sedo already contacted me to tell that buyer doesnt reply to his messages, so most likely I'm going to cancel the transfer on friday.

So you are saying it is better to list on sedo than afternic? I have a few non-performing ones, they do not get much ppc, I just want to sale them.

I prefer AfterNIC for both listing and parking.

Nowadays, AfterNIC parking let's you choose your parking provider: House Parking, Fabulous or Domain Sponsor. Good stuff.

As always, IMO.

Parking is another story, and everybody has their favorites, but you should list the names for sale everywhere possible, all/any legitimate venues available. Get the most exposure you can, don't limit yourself to just advertising thru whatever company you are parking with.

*This assumes their are no special fees, or cross-advertising restrictions, etc.

I'll be 2 years with SEDO in October, and i'm still waiting for that "offer". Still hoping... :D

In the past 1.5 years I have had over 50 offers on my names at SEDO. About 15 of them were accepted and out of those 15, only 2 actually sent in the money. Each transfer / escrow took months before i got my money.

On the other hand I have received about 20 offers from afternic and accepted about 15 of them. Out of those 15, 12 of them sent the money in. I have had some very quick transfer / escrow transactions with afternic (when the buying party knew what they were doing), and I have had some that took months as well.

I have even sold names at Afternic that were parked on SEDO (found thru nameboy.com or other data bases). The problem with SEDO is its Free to make a bid. If I saw a domain that I wanted to buy and it was for sale on Afternic and SEDO, I would negotiate my heart out on SEDO for free (using a webmail from one of my domains) to see the lowest price the buyer will go. Then wait a while and make an offer on Afternic.

I am currently up to 2700 domains now (2000 of them are poker domains) and I receive emails (from the who is) about selling the domain. 90 percent of my poker domains are parked at Fabulous and I DO NOT have the domain for sale sign on them because I really think it hurts the PPC when a visitor sees the Domain For Sale. We (as domainers) dont see the web/internet as most of the newer people who surf the internet. If I were not an expreinced surfer and i went to a landing page that had "domain for sale" and sponsored links... I would think its like buying something from a company that is about to go out of business or be sold.

The first think I do when I receive an email about somebody wanting to purchase or inquire about one of my domains, I do a search on Google.com and vroosh.com to see if there is any info about this person before I respond with an amount for sale ( i search the email address or the name if given). Once I searched the email on google and found a post from the potential buyer who was unemployed and asking for free assistance in Java Script... so I knew where he stood. If I receive and email from somebody like [email protected] , then I do a search for betmaker.com and learn as much about the company "betmaker" before I respond to the offer.

When dealing with a offer at SEDO / Afteric you know nothing about the potential buyer and that puts you at a big disadvanatge when negotiating the sale.

Interesting posts!

So far, it has been slow?

I responded RIGHT AWAY. Have heard nothing back? Been a couple of days...

Will keep you posted.

where can I find the place to sell that their are no special fees, or cross-advertising restrictions, etc"?
thanks

There aren't any special fees at most places, but you do pay a hefty chunk out of the final sale amount at most places.

I read from sedo that if you park your domain there, then the cut is lower than if you park it elsewhere. How do they know whether you parked the same domain in two different places? (as long as you switch to the park site when you receive an offer?)

UPDATE as promised.

My SEDO account now says > We have invoiced the buyer and when we secure the funds in our escrow account, we will let you know... to begin the transfer process.

Sounds good so far :gl:

> It does seem SLOW though as others have pointed out.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback and comments.

This is the step you have to wait the longest for on Sedo usually. But hopefully, for you it will move smoothly along. It really just depends on if the buyer has his head up his a$$ or not. :hehe:
