This thread is about Eurid providing the public with a list of the .eu domain names that will be available in the second .eu landrush, programmed for the 7th of June.

Here is a quote from theyr April 28 news update:
http://www.eurid.eu/en/general/news...xpired-will-be-made-available-again-on-june-7

"It has been suggested that by publishing a list we are helping the cyber squatters. We believe that these people are well aware of the releases anyway by studying the WHOIS database. By publishing a list, EURid wants to give everybody, including those parties who applied for names during Sunrise, a chance to see when the names will become available again. It also allows EURid to be transparent in what is happening with the Sunrise domain names."

So on the 28th of april, Eurid posts a state that they want to be transparent, and in order to achieve that a positive step is to provide the public with a list names that will be available for the second landrush. I agree, that would suggest that they are transparent for once.

BUT.....

Here is the quote from their recent news update(23rd of May)
http://www.eurid.eu/en/general/news...se-when-a-name-is-being-released-from-sunrise

"By publishing the release dates for the relevant domain names in the web Sunrise WHOIS database, EURid avoids publishing a full list of names to be released and in doing so does not assist cyber squatters."

in their 28. april update, EurID suggests that providing a list to the public will allow them to be transparent in what is happening in the sunrise. They said it, but they went ahead and acted otherwise anyway, proving to all of us that they are anything BUT transparent. I cannot believe that they expect us to just sit and take this.

I wonder how much EurID -the non profit organization- got to create this mess again.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

Your thoughts about this please.....

I think Eurid has stepped into something that they don´t have any knowledge from or did not think about in advance.

This occurence combined with the whole lack of setting a system up to transfer domains to other prospect owners in the beginning just proves it.

They´re just a bunch of silly people over there.

Perhaps the smurfs in Eurid think that we are all on their level. :)

glad i stumbled across this post... i also noticed these contrasting statements and emailed eurid for an explaination. i have been using the sunrise database to locate rejected names and their release dates. i am not certain which is better for me. on the one hand, a public list would be easy. on the other hand, the big players would be able to exploit eurid easier with a large public list. i hope i will be rewarded for all my hard work digging through the sunrise database over the past week!
