I am an experienced programmer with old (very old) home computers, and PLC programming in relay ladder logic. I have experience with various forms of BASIC and a little C++, Unix, DOS. The last windows programming I did was with QB4.5 on a win95 machine, so I'm way out of touch. I have used VBasic for windows 3.11.
My knowledge of how the internet works is limited to a vague understanding of some of the comms protocols in use.
I intend to start a home based business as a machinery control systems consultant. I am very good at programming machines/motor controls, and industrial systems.
I want to create my own website and learn every detail of how it all works so my skillset will be improved to enhance my offerings in the areas that I lack currently.
I will probably have dozens of ridiculous questions to start out with.
Please suggest something to set the stage for me to see the forest before I get lost in the trees.
Is there an overview of the internet and web design for novices?
Many thanks
Paul Cunningham
