That's somewhat of a myth that it's hard to transfer a name out of Network Solutions. It's actually one of the easier ones to transfer away from now. I've transferred over a hundred names out of there in the past couple years and never had an issue.

Just unlock the name and intiate the tranfer.

"Urban Myth" in that it is greatly exaggerated due to early problems, BUT I've still had trouble recently with a multiple-failed transfer attempt (Self-to-self). Multiple phone calls later, they chalked it up to being overly proactive in avoiding hijacking, but it was still frustrating.
However, the difficulties of some users should not dissuade you from buying a name that would otherwise be a plum-deal.

True... the same was said about Yahoo! domains, but i got all of my yahoo domains transferred to Godadddy within 5 days. You just have to handle it properly i believe.

And don't forget:

1. Make sure the transfer contact email addy on record's still good.

2. If using their Private Registration, turn it off.

Just making sure your bases are covered. ;)

BTW, it may interest you to know their locking feature's good for 2 weeks. It'll
turn back on if you don't transfer the name out within that time frame.

You can opt out of that completely, though. But they need to "authenticate"
you.

In the past many registrants experienced untold hardships transferring their
domain names out. In recent years (including this one :)), it's relatively easy
to move them out.

You just have to know what to expect. So go thru the checklist:

1. Make sure the "primary contact" email addy (that's what they call the main
contact within the record) inside the account's still good.

2. Unlock the domain name. Make sure to transfer the domain name out within
2 weeks or it'll relock itself.

3. Do it while the domain name's paid, preferably at least 1-2 weeks before it
expires.

Iโ€™ve had very few domain names with NetSol but I prefer to keep certain domains with some ccTLDs with them and I have never had any issues at mention.

Best wishes,
Kimmy
