Ok, so I have been learning the ins and outs of the domain game. This morning I tried to capture some dropped domain names. Everything checks out, they were pending delete on Apr 2nd, today is the 8th (6th day). I sat at my computer at 630am and pounded away at the bulk register tool at namecheap. I kept getting greeted with a "ERROR - Unable to find result at this time" for each domain I requested. 30 Minutes later, I gave up, still receiving the same messages. Am i missing something? Is NameCheap a good service to use for catching dropped names?

Also oddly enough, on the list were two .info's, both at approx. 530am EST reflected an update and registration in their respective whois data. How is it possible that a domain can be registered so early on the drop date. Both to the same guy.

Have you looked into drop services? Virtually all good domains that are dropping will go to a drop service, so you won't be able to register them through a typical registrar.

See:
snapnames.com
pool.com
clubdrop.com
tdnam.com

If there are names you REALLY want that are dropping you should use these. Enom names drop to clubdrop, Network Solutions and Bulk Register drop to SnapNames. Godaddy to tdnam.com (a horrible service IMHO).

I've gotten some good names through these.

Good luck.

You are not going to catch any dropping name manually. All .com .net .org etc domains are caught by drop registrars. Some are backordered, the rest will be tasted for up to 5 days and possibly deleted. Check back in a few days if the names of interest to you have been dropped again.

thanks for all the replies.

any explanation on the Info's? They went to a single person, not a company and a full hour before the name officially dropped.
