How would I promote a website like this?

i think you need to start your marketing from informing the visitors of what your website exactly does and why use it (@ the home page) in the first place

First of all, the website looks dead. When a visitor comes to your website and sees that no one else made any posts, they will not post anything also.

If I would have visited your site and it looked really busy, I might have been tempted to also post something. Once this happens, you can do affiliate marketing or pay-per-click marketing.

So, first fill it up with information so I looks like a lot of people are using the site. Then, once a visitors ends up on your site there will at least be a chance for that visitor to post what they Want/Need. The way it is right now (empty) there is basically no chance.

Very good idea for a website, I see a lot of different ways to make a profit from something like that but your domain name is just horrible. You will have to actually market the domain name as well just so that people could recognize it as a brand. For example, when I see the word "buezit" I don't think right away, "Oh, I can post something there so that I can find the cheapest price for an item very fast without any effort". When I see the word "Geico" I think cheap insurance (even though the name does not have anything to do with insurance and they are not cheap). This is because there was plenty of brand advertising, propaganda-style media.

To start with you need some grass roots advertising.
You have to ask yourself who would use this site and how can i get their attention.
dont be a tightwad spend some cash and advertise your site maybe even redisgn the front page looks like a blog site.
simple ads would be like (find what your looking for at beuzit.com) buezit.com where buyers find sellers etc etc... put in classified sections of papers .magazines etcc.. hell save up some more cash and advertise on on the radio, drop the site name whereever possible
including yoursig space.

I agree your first weakness is your domain name! before you get a bunch of links try to pick something that would tell what your sites about. then a little bit of SEO and some links sould help get a little traffic to your site!
