I have a typo domain that is getting over 1500 uniques per month. I have a possiable end user that is enquiring about it.

How do you value a typo?
I have read where it can be as much as 60 months of the current revenue it is generating. Is there a link out there that can clue me in?

Thanks for your time.

If its a TM typo usually it sells for around 12 month of revenue, if its generic typo it can get 36 month of rev. 60month seems a bit much, but if you find the right buyer...

There is a TM issue here, and any WIPO panel would see through the misspellings. If Google wants it, I would hand it over for their offer to avoid trouble down the road. Good luck

It always amazes me which typos get hits and which don't. One late night about 3 months ago I registered 'vactions.org', woke up thinking "that was dumb" then parked it anyway. It's paid for itself 10 times over since then with "vacation" typos...

Others I thought would do well won't be renewed.

Just curious about this post. I have a very close Tm typo and its of a major major portal, As of 9-8-06 they started massively promoting this portal on TV. As a result it has started receiveing over 50 uniques a day, in fact today it has had 110 and counting. It has had a ctr rate of near 50% and over 140 clicks in 4 days. How would I value and sell a name like this?

As for myself, I would be more interested in clicks on a typo rather than just pure traffic. Interesting read by the way..

Multiply the revenue you get a month by 12 i would say.

I think the following points need to be considered when valuing a TYPO:

1. Generic name or TM
2. Site or parked name
3. How long it has been online
4. Amount of traffic
5. Tendence of traffic (steady, increasing, decreasing)
6. Type of traffic (type-in, search engines, backlinks, payed...)
7. Click Through Rate
8. Quality of the name itself (potential)
9. Popularity (PageRank, Backlinks, Alexa, overture)
10. Of course, the target price the seller is looking for
