How to tell if India domain was prev registered

How can I find out if a .in or .co.in was registered previously?

Archive.org is no good for the .ins and .co.ins I've looked for.

When I say "registered previously", I mean it was registered and then expired/not renewed and is now available again (for .ins and .co.ins). Is there some way I can find out if a .in/.co.in was registered in the past?

You can use the free service of domaintools.com

visit whois.domaintools.com/XXXX where XXXX is the name of the domain

It will show you whther the domain was ever dropped , registrar change... thecomplete details for the domein!

I had tried Domain Tools and I don't think it works for India domains. I will show... "Domain Status: Registered and no Website" for Indian domains that are currently available to be registered.

The only thing Domain Tools will do is give info on Indian domains that are currently registered. It doesn't give info like it does for .com, .net. etc.
