since I had a low ball offer from sedo, it kept sending me this:
"Congratulations! There is a new offer waiting for you
on the domain name"

when you check your sedo account, it is not a new offer. How can I
stop the repeated email? (I don't want to stop the email if it were
a new counter offer)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Happened to me endless of times.

Sometimes I just cancel the negotiation, but that is kind of rude and also there is risk there might be another decent offer from the buyer.

Don't know what to do.

Sometimes it seems like the hotel California at Sedo: you can check in but you can never leave.

The best way is to counter offer. Once you counter offer then the emails stop until the other person changes their bid, or cancels the thread.

Even after a seller counter offer, if the buyer does not respond, the email to the
seller does not stop.

Are you sure that you completed the counter offer steps? It is a two step process, where you counter offer on one page, and then you get a confirmation page. You have to scroll down on the confirmation page to confirm. I have forgotten to confirm on the second page in the past and had multiple messages from the buyer... very frustrating.

Like I said though, there is a bit of hotel California in the Sedo process.

Its silly - you should be able to just cancel any offer with a simple note, sorry I have already recieved higher offers.

The way its set up you have to first reply with a price, if they counter only then can you cancel it - If they accept then you have to sell.

Just ignore it if you're not interested, eventually you will stop getting emails.

here's the email that sedo sends when you get an offer

We are pleased to inform you that a potential buyer has made an offer for your domain, yourdomain.com!
Please respond to this bid in your account under "View Offers" or click on the following link: (removed)

Please note, that you will receive reminder mails about this offer, until you respond and you will need to submit at least one counter before you can cancel the negotiations. This process was designed to ensure a communicative and successful market place.
