Received a Sedo offer of $100 today for I domain that I wouldn't deem had this value, but I still would like to ask for more? Is this good/bad tactics to counter-offer? Will $30 more put the buyer off?

Also, when making a transaction on Sedo, how do you receive money? In a check, in Paypal?

well, since you dont think the value of domain is that much, then why be greedy ?? why not just stick with the offer you are getting. I mean i am not saying that it will put the buyer off, but you are increases the chances of that happening by countering the offer.

if you counter offer, the buyer could walk away. You can receive payment by either check or paypal, whichever you choose.

Best to accept the offer if you really think its not worth that amount, so what is the domain?

Make sure you know what your profits will be after Sedo takes their share. Depending on how much they are going to take would help make me determine what my next actions would be.

A little Sedo story...
I had an offer come in from Sedo a while back and they offered me $600 right off. I then did some research and had a couple appraisals come back at much more then that so i asked for $10k. Sedo then came back saying that their appraisal put the domains worth at 1000 Euro (approx $1200). Their appraisal also had some completely wrong information (site was developed they said not, had pagerank they said not...) I said i wanted more and they declined and I still have the domain name for sale...

Not sure if there is a lesson in there but good luck and if the same is true for you as it was for me that might be willing to double their initial offer..

The person i worked with was: Sinead Gangler <[email protected]>

I have SoccerFriend.com on SEDO in the first week I got 3 offers. Initially I wanted $3000 for it. And the best offer at that time was $2000 so I declined and after that I did not heard anything about this domain

Sometimes it is better not cut off the deal right the way ...

On the otherhand

My last sale at Sedo was for $135, for an .info. They offered $100, I countered with $135. They didn't even try to counter again. Any domain in this price range isn't going to break someone. I don't think asking $25-$50 more is out of line. The other party doesn't have to know how you really feel about your domain. Apparently, they like it. Also, it is not greed to ask for a few more dollars, it is business. Like mentioned above, you have to make up for Sedo's cut.

Now asking for $1,000 more right off the bat, that "could" be considered greed. But, it you sold it, it would be darn good business!!! IMHO

Depending on the name, I'd counter anywhere between $300 and 100k :) That helps root out the resellers and keeps the end users paying the right prices.
