You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.

Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.

Use your spam guard and block address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options /mail options

Click on 'spam' in the list on the left.

Make sure spam guard is on, by checking in the little box.

Then in 'Blocked Email Addresses,' enter the E-mail address you wish blocked, in the box after 'Add a blocked address' and click on the 'add' button, then click on save changes at top left of screen.

You will never get mail from that address again.

This should help you to control your spam.

You mean these? They are stupid bulk spam inquiries.
Virtually all of these are for CVCV.com or LLL.com

If you want to stop some kinds of spam and don't mind spending a little time, you can copy the email header, forward the email, paste in the header at the top of the message.

Then use DomainTools.com or another site to find the ISP that is hosting the domain in the email. Find the "abuse" email contact and put that into the "To:" field. Type in the message that the domain that is being spamvertised is hosted on their IP address.

If you want to cause more problems for the spammer, use the WHOIS information for the domain to find out who the domain registrar is. In the CC field of the email, add "[email protected]" and note in your message that the spammer domain is registered via them. Not all registrars will do anything, but some will verify the spam and then suspend the domain.

Good Luck!

I would not email the spammer more than once, if that. I think your main options are:

- Create a filter that moves or deletes any email from them.
- Create a filter that looks for some specific text they use in their spam.
- Report them to their service provider/domain registrar.

The last option will not help to stop spam to you, but to everyone else as well. I highly recommend reporting them as being the most effective thing you can do.

If there is any interest in how I report spam to stop people like this, let me know and I can post detailed instructions how to do it.

This [email protected] had a reply, it is asking the list of domains I own or else she will continue to spam. Quite a way to threaten someone to acquire the list. Why can't she sort the email addresses and send out only one?

I am setting up the spam filters, however there are only limited number of filters I am allowed to set.

Hi,

My apologies if I am sent emails to you for many times. We have a small handful of domains looking to acquire and some of your domains are some of them. Please let me know what your domains are so that I won't send you again a message.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Beverly

hearker.com is hosted with Godaddy. Send the emails with headers, to [email protected] and [email protected]. Tell them you have asked to be removed from their lists and they refuse.

I would expect that Godaddy will contact them, but they may also suspend the domain which should get the spammer's attention. It usually does. :)

Setting up filters is fine. Using a hosted spam solution is fine. But the spammers will find ways to get to you again, and you are only fixing the problem for one person.

If you can take a spammer off-line, you help yourself and thousands or millions of other people as well. SPAM should not be a problem any more, but most people don't fight back and just take it. Heck, many people would start to miss it if they checked their mail and there was no new messages...! :)

I have contacted my godaddy account manager, he only said: "You can blacklist her email address in your email settings.".

I will try the abuse email. Thanks.

Once you start getting a lot of spam, there is not much you can do. Spammers share and sell lists all the time. I am still using the first email address I created under my first domain name back in 1999. A few years ago I was getting hundreds of spams a day, and started fighting back. Now I still get a lot of spam, but at least I can still use my email address.

If I was just starting out now, I would do things different. I would get a domain and cheap hosting. Then I would create a LOT of email forwarding addresses and only give those out as I needed to. If one of the addresses starts to get spam, I would know where the spam is coming from and just delete the forward.

My real email address is secret now. I never give it out to anyone, so there is almost no way I know of for anyone to learn what it is. All of my email comes in under forwards, including my old email address that I started with. :) Someday, I may just delete it also.

If you need to post an email address on a web site it's a little harder, but you can do the same thing and if there starts to get too much spam, you can delete the old one and create a new one.

I use a seperate email for whois so I know anything that comes in from it was from data mining so 99% trash. I use a contact form on all my sites so they don't get my email address. If the whois address ever gets too much spam I can always change it in a few bulk registrar updates as I don't use it for anything else so I wouldn't have to update any accounts.
