How to start my Business Website

I am currently selling island handicrafts. I want to build my business online so that I can sell handicrafts world wide. How should I start? I am need of assistance.... I am new at this sort of things...

You might need an online setup where you will be selling this things. Maybe payment is collected online or via other means that is okay.

You have to think of a domain name.

You have to think of a theme of the website you are going to create, like what colors and what kind of outlook you want.

Make a list of features you want in your site.

You will have to code it in HTML or other scripting language depending upon the features in the site.

You will have to research the keywords that are related to your niche.

Write good content on the site along with your products.

You will have to do the Onpage SEO for the site. [Should be good if taken care of while developing]

You will need to get a server. Upload this files on the server.

You now need to do marketing for it, means getting backlinks, doing PPC etc.

Wait. See the results. If you are happy with the results according to the efforts you put in. Then great enjoy. Else try to read some more online resources on marketing and improving sales etc.

Nick gave you some good advice, but I think what you really need is to find someone who can help you with all of those items and more. Since you don't even know how to start, it's going to be a lot for you to learn. If you have the time, that's great, but if you don't have the time or the interest to learn all that you need to do, working with someone may be the way to go.

A more simple approach may be to get a Yahoo store. You may have to pay a little more to get your site up and to keep it running, but Yahoo makes it pretty easy to get what you need running. The thing they don't really provide is much help with marketing and promotion.

I suggest you find some ecommerce or business forum sites, learn as much as you can, ask lots of questions, and then when you feel you understand the basics, or find someone to help you, then jump into it and give it a try.
