How to develop a news site and a software download site

hi there,

i want to develop 2 sites: a news one and a software download one ( a legal one ofcourse) ; my 2 big questions are:

1. for the news site, from where to import the news? i actually don't know what the law says.. i want to "copy" news from different sites and at the and to specific the source and a link to it .. but is that legal in .com ?from where should i read the law ?

2. i want to dev a download site with trials, shareware, etc... in this case what says the law? how to get the software? what are the statements?

For news site you can incorporate the RSS news feeds from different sources. You can also use your own algo to order them properly and then parse it into HTML.

For software download site I think you will have to make one from scratch. If you know PHP then you can make one which might allow software vendors to list their softwares onto your site to gain more exposure.

i actually dont like RSS feeds .. i was hopin that someone will tell me what is the specific law ( if one) that allows someone to reproduce some texts ( news in my case) from different websites ( news ones) ; in my country there is such a law that lets you to reproduce ~ 500 words / news but to specific the source of the news

2. for the download site any advices there? i want to create it in joomla ..

Humm... not so sure about joomla. Sorry but I have tested and thought that a script from scratch would do better then joomla.

But still if you don't want to code a ground up script then you can use XOOPS maybe it will work somewhat.

You may try out both DOCman and Remository and see which suits your needs the best. There are several plugins/modules for each that enhance functionality and work with other Joomla extensions; like a sitemap that lists your download categories and/or items, for example.
