I am thinking of starting a website, which will ONLY provide vendors information (contact info) and advertising space and 'maybe' in the future, some products such as t-shirts, nothing major. Question is, how do I handle or design the payment information? (i.e., types of payment, how the payment will be made to, etc..). I would like to have the complete / easy control of it.

I will be having someone design the site for me, and obviously I would need to pass this information to them, but whats the best way to handle it? Payment design is very important to me, because I would like the vendors to login, pick a category and make the payment, (but where, how, easiest way, etc.. whether by PAYPAL, Credit Card, etc..)

Thank you very much for your help.

p.s. Please no comments on whether it has any traffic, or whether there are any users or why would people want to advertise, etc..

A very good way to do it is to just have a button that the customers can click and pay through the button?
...Just a suggestion..

Paypal buttons are probably the easiest method available. In a matter of minutes they can be added to your site. I've also found that a printable order form with a mailing address will work if you decide to accept other payment methods such as personal checks or money orders.

If you want to go the credit card route, that gets a bit more complicated. There are companies that will process credit cards for you for a fee or a merchant account is available depending on what you'd like to do. Credit cards can get hairy since you probably don't want to store that info (for liability reasons) and you don't want anyone's personal data entered through a non-encrypted (non-ssl) website. So I'd suggest setting up your site, get the paypal buttons and printable order form going, then evaluate from there.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

You can actually pay by credit card through Paypal, the buyer doesn't need a Paypal account or anything, all the seller needs to have is at least a Premier or Business account!

Or you can integrate a shopping cart like Zencart.
