Hi guys,
I just requested 2 .com domains of mine to be transferred from my originating registrar to my account at Godaddy. So I went through the Godaddy procedure and ended by paying for a year with my creditcard. OK ..then I get an e-mail from Godaddy with the following info:
CUSTOMER NUMBER: 0000lala excamplenumber
LOGIN NAME: 0000lala excamplenumber
RECEIPT NUMBER: oooolala excamplenumber
OK there are instructions that I log into my Godaady account and I must go to "PENDING TRANSFERS" OK I do this and I see the following:

Status

Recommended Action

Admin Email
whatever.COM Verifying Whois Contact Information Processing... [email protected]
whateveralso.COM Verifying Whois Contact Information Processing... [email protected]
Now I click on "AUTHORISATION" and choose "Begin Transfer Authorisation"
I then see the following:
TRANSACTION ID
Security Code
I have to fill in something here so I fill in the receipt number under Transaction ID and the Authorisation code which I got from my old registrar in the Security Code space. Then I click on complete and get an ERROR message.
It then says"If you do not have the Transaction ID or Security Code for this transfer please return to the Pending Transfers page, select the domain(s) from the domain name list, and then click the Resend Email button."
So I do this and then get the following message: "Resend Transfer Emails - The transfer(s) cannot be updated because they are not in an appropriate status."
Can someone explain what codes I must fill in and where do I get them. What are the security code and Transaction Code? There is no space for the required Authorisation code. All very confusing this and I am in a bit of a hurry for an answer so waiting for the Godaddy support team to reply in 24 hours is a bit frustrating. Thanx for any help
Regards
Fred

you will get an email sent to the admin email address listed in whois ... did you use the security code and transaction id listed in it?

Hi Namewaiter
I got that email but the only codes on it are my customer code and receipt number. I tried entering those as there are no other codes in that e-mail and those 2 dont work. The required codes they mention Transaction ID and security code have me baffled as there is no mention of it in the e-mail
Regards and thnx for attempting to help

Fred-

The 2 codes you are looking for are sent to the Admin Email contact on the whois. Check that email address. If you no longer have that or have access to it, you will have to go to your current registrar and update that information, wait approximately 1-3 days for the whois to update and then re-initiated the transfer.

Hi Domainspade. The only e-mail info on the Whois data is my own e-mail address to which Godaddy sent the receipt for the transfers.

What are the domain names?

Also - do you have spam filters? I believe the emails come from SecureServer.net - so if you have heavy filters, they may be in your bulk.

I actually just completed a transfer from RF to godaddy,
took all of about 3 days :) The "whois processing" thing
was showing on mine and nothing was happening, so I emailed godaddy, they told me the registrar I am transferring out of, verifies the whois info regarding
the transfer, then godaddy will send you an email with the Transaction ID and Security code. then you just log back in and continue that process under pending transfers.
It depends on how long your other registrar takes to confirm it, but shouldn't
be more than a few days.
Good luck, keep us posted :)

I would check your spam filters but you may have to wait a little more time, sometimes those emails take a little bit of time to go through.

Hi MisChiff
I got an e-mail from my old registrar with the Authorisation codes and the message that they had unlocked my domains. This was all done as I requested it from them

OK then guys..thanks for your help. Guess I'll have to wait a bit and then if nothing happens by next wednesday I'll send Godaddy another mail

I just went back and checked the sequence of emails all together it
was about 3 days to complete.

it took about 6 hours after Rf confirmed their end - and godaddy sent me the email to go back into pending transfers and put in the auth code and security ID that they provided in the email....they just need confirmation
from the current registrar first. Once they get that they will send a new email with instructions to complete it. It will contain the codes you need.

but if your concerned, just email godaddy they can check to see
that it is moving along ok.
Hope this helps :)

When you go to Transfers Pending and click authorize then it asks for
the 2 codes. You put the ones in that they have in the email from
GoDaddy, then you click next and a new box will come up that you put the Authorization Code you get from where the domain is and click ok.

Then the Transfers Pending will say Pending and you'll get an email from
the Registrar where it's at saying the domain will be transfered if nothing
is heard from you in X amt of days, usually 72 hours.
Don't reply and the transfer will go through.
Some email will say to go to a url and OK the transfer and it'll go through right away.

:hi:

I've just managed to finish my first transfer at GD. Took about a month. Very frustrating, don't give up though. The email messages are confusing because some of them you need to act upon, and some of them you need to ignore even if they have codes and instructions in them. The trick is to know which ones...

Sorry I don't have any helpful info for you, just sympathy.
