Hello,

I had transfered my other domain names from different registrars to Godaddy and it all went smooth.

Today I was transferring a domain name recently purchased from one seller to my Godaddy account.

What Godaddy FAQ says is:

To Authorize a Domain Transfer to Your Account

1. Log in to your Account Manager.
2. In the My Products section, click Manage Domains.
3. From the Domains menu, select Pending Transfers.
4. Click the Authorization button and select Begin Transfer Authorization from the list.
5. In the Transaction ID field, enter the transaction ID sent to the email address on file regarding this transfer.
6. In the Security Code field, enter the code sent to the email address on file regarding this transfer, and then click Next.

7. Click Next again to confirm the listed domains are the ones you want to transfer to your account.
8. If applicable, enter the Authorization Code you received from the current registrar and click Finish.

Now I haven't received any transaction ID or security code. In past I had been receiving it.

My take on it is that in past I have been receiving it because my own email address was associated with that domains. And today I am not receiving the Transaction ID and Security Code because the sellers email address is there in administrative contact of that domain name.

So am I taking it right? Is this transaction ID and Security Code sent to the email address of the Administrative contact of that domain name? Or will it be sent to me as I am the customer and I have my own email address on the file over there on Godaddy.

Their sentence is confusing me the one I have highlighted in Bold.

Thanking You.

:hi:

The Seller is supposed to initiate the domain transfer through his Control Panel.

The Seller is supposed to put your email info into the Who Is so you will get the transfer notice with the Security Code and Transaction ID,.

It seems that the Seller never initiated the transfer.

the one that will receive the transaction id/security code is the buyer or the new owner, and the old owner/seller will initiate the push (account change in godaddy) not the buyer.

The seller would receive the Trans Id and Code email.

1. Their email would be the Admin Email, so it would be e-mailed to the seller and then the seller woud e-mail it to you.

2. The seller can put your email address as the admin and then the email would be sent to you.

3. I believe you will also need a security key as well, so those three things would be mailed to you from the seller.

and like what was said make sure the seller unlocks it and also clicks a confirm button to release the name. (depending on registrar)

Got it. Have sent the seller the instructions to forward me the Trans ID and Security Code. As it might have hit his Inbox by now. Auth Code already received :)

Thanking You all for your help.

:hi:

You don't need the Auth Code for a domain push at GoDaddy.

There's no place to put it in and it is not requested.

You just need the Security Code and Transaction ID.
