I am looking to purchase a .com/.net domain name that is general or shopping related. It must be PR5-6, and have a decent amount of backlinks, including backlinks from "authority" sites. I plan on using the name to develop a site.

How much should I expect to pay for such a name?

All depends on the seller.

it depends on the current revenue of this site when you buy a developed site.

Shopping releated and PR 5-6 means atleast having some kind of revenue for sure. If the owner is not lazy and monetizing it better. :D

I think even with $100 in revenue per month you are looking at 18 months of revenue which would be $1800 USD or around.

But for sure a PR 6 domain will give more than $500/month (at least).

A PR6 domain won't be cheap. First, it would be a developed website. You can't get PR6 for a parked domain.
I would say at least $5,000.

If a shopping domain is so expensive, then how much would a generic domain cost?

To put it into perspective, Overstock.com is a PR6. Good luck buying one of those. Besides, you're being too vague. That's like asking how much an adult domain would cost. Are we talking sex.com or are we talking MeetWithLocalSinglesInKansas.com?
