Hi TVers,

Am dicussing with www.tv about acquiring a premium and considering registering/renewing for 10 years where they give a 60% discount from listed prices (US$2k). The rep mentioned that from year 11 onwards, the renewal will be at a 50% discount (per year) of the currently listed price.

If the name is definitely for developing, with a plan, and no intention of selling in the next few years:

#1 Does it make sense to renew it for 10 years so that there's a good discount and to protect against any unforeseen prices increases by www.tv

#2 Is it possible at all, that prices/renewal prices of premiums may fall at www.tv, in which case it may not be such a good idea to renew for 10 years

About to proceed with it soon- appreciate any advice/pointers from those of you that have expereience buying premiums at www.tv

Thanks
Paddy

You'd do far better keeping the renewal money and investing it in something else until payment is due, even at 5% return you'd be better off. Also if things don't work out down the track then you will have saved alot in unneeded reg fees.

Paddy, currently if you register at .tv for a premium domain you can get 70 percent off without doing 10 years if you choose not too. In your post you said they would give you 60 percent for 10 years which translates 8K for 10 years. For a 2K regular price domain with discount applied it should be $600 per year or 6K for 10 years which is 2K less. They will probably ask you to reg min of two years to get this special. End of reg period upon renewal it will be 50 percent. Search the threads here there is a lot of detail regarding the 70 percent discount being offered at .tv

Thanks SKG. You are right, it is 70%. Think im just going to do it for 3 years and face the higher renewal costs in 2010 :)
