How Many Months Of Revenue Should You Look For Type-in Traffic?

If a domain is getting purely type-in traffic (and revenue), then how many months of revenue should you look for when selling?

From what I know, type-in traffic is more valuable than traffic from backlinks etc. since it'll always stay.

Would 24 months be good, or should I look for more?

Rough Estimate ..

non TM generic 5-8 years
TM traffic 12-24 month

12-24 months if you can get the source of traffic verified.

If I were going to pay a lot for a name I'd like to see 30-90- days of parking stats & traffic referrers.

I'm pretty sure some of the larger companies want you to forward your NS to them for at least 30-90 days before purchase.

Of course this is only if your purchasing for the traffic.
If purchasing solely for the name then traffic may not be important to you :cy:

Then, how many months should one pay for backlinks traffic?

I wasn't talking of traffic. I was talking of revenue, and a sale aimed at the reseller market for a non TM generic name.

Thanks to all those who responded, btw

I would want 10 years revenue as a minimum. A name receiving decent type-in revenue makes for a perfect acquisition. When you consider that the money you're receiving for it is likely a fraction (unless you're over at Bodis) of what your parking company is making off the name and then consider what fraction you're making of Google's overall profit, it's not hard to realize how costly it would be for a company to receive these same type-ins from search engine advertising. When you consider that type-in traffic has recently been scientifically shown to be at least twice as targetted as traffic obtained via search engines, it's not hard to understand why type-in traffic may be one of the most undervalued commodities in the domaining world at the moment.

I'll agree that type-in traffic is very targeted. All my domains that get type in traffic happen to have a CTR of over 40%, while those getting traffic from backlinks have CTR hovering in the 2-10% range.

I've been offered 8 years revenue by one of the largest domain holders I'm aware of, so from my experience that's probably a good starting point.

*************On my first post in your thread:: You asked how many months rev should you look for? I thought you meant to verify traffic.
