In my experience: when I send emails to end users, whenever an end user has replied 'how much' and I send them an amount... if they don't reply within a few minutes or hours, then they have never, ever responded later on (days, weeks).
If a buyer contacts me first, and I tell them how much, they usually (but not always) respond with an affirmative, a counter offer, or a no thanks.
I think this is a safe guideline:
1 - a very small percentage of end users ever respond to your emails. Maybe one response out of every 20 - 50 emails.
2 - when you get a 'how much' response from one of them, half the time it's just curiosity and they have no intent to buy... unless you were to toss out a very cheap buying price like $25 - 50.
3 - if an end user is sincerely interested in buying, generally they will respond fast and with energetic negotiating; other slower tactics are used sometimes, but most often negotiations are brisk. If your price is too far apart from theirs and they finally get the idea you're not going to sell in their price range, suddenly you won't ever hear from them again, even if you email them later with a much lower price.
