How does Sedo rank names in search display?

Can anyone shed any light on what they think is the formula for how the Sedo Search Engine ranks names in the search display? Is it what some algorithm considers a "quality name" (sure doesn't seem like it); is it traffic, is it visits to the sale page (that would be a good idea; shows interest). Once someone at Sedo told me that if you have a lot of names parked there, your names get bumped. But I don't know about that.

Anyone know ofr sure, or have a real good guess based on data?

When your running the search there is an option to search via traffic, offers, "quality" etc. . Although the "quality" of the ranking leaves me laughing most of the time.

I understand that, and I know that it is the default. so that what most people end up getting. But, it's obviously not really by quality, as you suggested. so, what are tehy really using for ranking?

I've noticed on some of my names that when they have received more Uniques or Visits to the offer page then they also ranked higher under the "quality" setting, Same thing for when they get offers.

This is of course not always the case and there are many examples of high traffic domains ranking poorly under the quality search.

I've also seen hyphen domains with no offers or traffic on the first page for quality ?? :-/

I suspect it is just a combination of sedo's view of quality, uniques, page views and offers.

It does'nt look like it is all that defined.

Gazzip, I was hoping that nuber of views to the sales page would play a part. I'm testing something with ten of my names now. These are names with high hits, but zero or practically zero clicks, no matter what keywords I use. Instead of parking them, I'm forwarding them to the sales page instead. I figure I've got nothing to lose. It will be interesting to see how these names, with hundreds of sales page hits monthly, will do in the ranking. I just started it, so I don't know yet how it will work. I'm sure it will improve my chances of selling them though.

I did something similar, I got this page/domain to rank number 7 in the Google results for the same keywords (with spaces) as my domain.

I then put links for some of my domains that go straight to my offer page at sedo - This definetly helped the ranking.

I also had an offer on it pretty much straight away although I did'nt sell it.

No harm in trying eh ? Good luck

I think the 'Quality' :hehe: Default Setting is something we should all individually voice a protest about to Sedo.

Ok, an experienced domainer knows the 'Quality' setting is a load of crap, and searches by traffic or bids, but a newcomer to Domains and Sedo would not think to dispute the default 'Quality' results, thus meaning that those of us with 'Real Quality' and/or traffic domains are missing out on potential endusers finding our domains.

Once again, we are getting stiffed by Sedo. :td:
