Hi Guys,

Thought I will ask you if you can help me figure out this. Know about this 60 day thing when you register domain you can not sell it or even move it. Know it does not effect any UK domains because of Nominet.org,uk

I was wondering if for example I buy domain name from other person and either way receive domain via account change with same Registrar or complete domain transfer to different registrar Will this domain have 60 day rule applied, does circumstance of transfer effects this in any ways?

If you can help me out with any advice I will be thankful,

Thanks

Miks

Normally the rule is that a domain has to be for a minimum of 60 days with a registrar before being able to transfer it to another registrar. During this period, most registrars let you move/push domains to other accounts within that same registrar. But then some registrars like godaddy, add a 60 day lock each time the domain is moved/pushed to another account within them or even if you update the whois information for the domain a 60 day lock gets applied.

There are a few basic requirements for the domain transfers of major TLDs:

- domain has to have at least 15 days before expiration
- domain has to be registered for at least 60 days
- domain cannot be transferred less than 60 days after previous transfer

I
believe the last one should answer your question ;)

This is not a mandatory requirement, it depends on the policies of the registrar. Some allow outgoing transfers even after the expiry date.

Oh indeed, I though I even wrote that it depends on the registrar, but seems to have missed it, thanks for pointing it out ;)

Of course there is a difference between the official Icann policies and what the registrars are actually doing
