Sometimes I get $60 offers on sedo listed domains they often originate from four to five-star domain buyers on sedo, so they are not ignorant end-users.
anyone gets their strategy? i do not get it, my response is in the same league as their offer -
the max figure sedo allows me to counter with LOL. i would like to be able to cancel negotiations right away, but sedo does not allow it.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
They are simply taking advantage of the current situation seeking to pick up as many reasonable domains as they can before the market starts to upturn.

Invariably they do not respond to any subsequent offer but by using supermarket tactics they will get a few to send their names to auction and you will note that very few names sent to auction rarely get a second bid.

It seems to be 2-3 Americans,Sedo members since ,2007,2008,2011,from my experience anyway.

Not true.
I was able to do that a while ago.
Canceled the negotiations after the initial 60 dollar offer. User was then blocked. :)

I cannot cancel first offer either.

Interface says I have to respond to original offer first- then of course the guy does not respond and you are stuck for 7 days.

here is my experience. I got a $60 offer and I replied stating the price that I wanted for the domain. The bidder replied back with $100 offer I then restated my price. The bidder came back with $150 then I canceled the negotiations. About 3 days later the person contacted via email stating that he wanted the domain. We negotiated a price close to my asking price.

Here is a recent one. I received 2 offers and canceled negotiations without counter offering or anything else, all the same day :)

Sellers may submit a 'Minimum Offer'?

cancel it before you get it.

I need to remember that some lowball offers are the highest I'll ever get :xf.love:

I dont understand what why some domainers get upset when you get a $60 offer.

Yes, most of the $60 offers are bottom feeders but every once in a while you get a guy like me who is simply Feeling Out the seller.

I know when I make a $60 or a $100 offer I am just trying to find out where the seller stands on his or her price.
I have had at least 3 $60 to $100 offers that turned into $450 to $1500 sales.

Just look at the $60 offer as a part of doing business, if the second offer you get from them is still in that low range then you know they are a bottom feeder and then you cancel the negotiations.

:)

I guess $60 offer could means:

1. The Buyer think you could push the name for the auction (today's auctions at Sedo are almost dead, so he has a chance to get the domain on a cheap price).

2. He is "forcing" you to tell him what are your price expectations (he just don't want to play games).

Just IMO

My strategy is similar to yours - very high counter :)

BTW I remember one .tv'er got a $500 offer at Sedo and ended with a 20 or 25K sale
Compearing to final price $500 is also lowball :)

any offer I get I treat with respect as you never know who you are dealing with... a simple counter back with your price could end in a sale.

Canceling negotiations seperates the men from the boys :)

I think its a good tactic. It makes some buyers angry and hurts their ego and some come back with good offers to your whois email, if they really want the name :)

I guess - But I'd rather reel the buyer in then risk losing a sale.

ignorant end-users is one thing, but for a sedo bidder with a high activity index making $60 offer on the name of another guy with high activity index is akin to an arts collector approaching another collector and offering $100 for a medieval picture.
you cannot even backorder a name for $60.
and setting min. bid prices is just an unwanted hassle, the cancel button should be active anytime, that's simple lol

@gifted, your scenario is a bit different since the buyer made several offers to you

The first 60 I treat as just "the game" Its when they bump it to 75 after my counter when i am done with them.

When they say "my final offer" and its not even close to my counter I do the cancel

Then you have the classic "Please justify your asking price".
Answer: please justify your lowball offer.
If you're dealing with someone nasty: please justify your existence :)

There's no point in taking an offence to a lowballer. Not everyone is a domain expert with a firm grounding in what virtual assets are worth.

Just counter, or set a minimum price if it bothers you that much. Your laziness does not warrant a prissy attitide.

Another one I do quite often is bump up the base price to $299 (Or whatever)after my response, usually if it's the long term lowballers (from "buyers" profile). At least they will be floundering around for a while wondering why they can't go to $75!

If it's a new member then chances are it's an end user and will not mess around.
