How do you get quality photos for website use ?

Hi all, I am in the process of designing a website about Dubai, does anyone know how or where to get Photos of Dubai I could use in the website, legally ???

Any I have found cost a small fortune to use, any help would be appreciated
there's 100 NP's to the most useful information IMO about obtaining free to use good quality photos of Dubai

(this does not include me taking my own ! or from the official dubai tourism website as most of these are shite quality !!)

Do a search on Gettyimages.com. They have a royalty free site that has some very nice pictures of Dubai.

Hmm, theres a few nice ones but too many restrictions !

1. Grant of License. Getty Images grants to you, for a period of thirty (30) days (after 30 days they want $150 - 1 image ! ), a non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable and non-assignable right to use the image and/or film preview file you have selected and any derivatives or copies (collectively, the "Licensed Material"), on your personal computer and, in the case of film, in any test, sample, comp or rough cut evaluation materials. The Licensed Material may only be used in materials for personal, noncommercial use and test or sample use, including comps and layouts.

Thanks for the $$. Sorry about the 30 day thing, I knew they had a royalty free section but not a time limit. I have a few friends who are professional photo types so I will see if I can find out if they know of any sites.

I use iStockPhoto.com when I need an acceptable-quality photo but I don't have a big budget for the project. Images cost from $1 to $3, royalty-free. Take a look at the results for 'Dubai': http://www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?action=file&text=dubai&filetypeID=

http://istockphoto.com/ has cheap photos, not sure if they have what you need though.


Have you tried http://www.sxc.hu/ ?

I would say you will have to pay someone or get a photographer to take shots of it.

sxc.hu is prolly the best, but sometimes you have to get the photographers permission.

I can't beleive how much some of these places charge for images, one placed I tried wanted $450 for using ONE IMAGE for one year !!!!

I would be cheaper getting my Nikkon out and going for a two week holiday to Dubai :lol: Not that I have any money :td:

If someone does find a place where I can get enough quality photos of Dubai from (about 30) for free then I will still donate 100 NP's

I would say that one site we have stated is a jewl in the rough. It took me about an hour to find it and now I will not use anything else!
