Photo sources?

I am looking for a site, paid or otherwise, that has good royalty free photo's, clipart, templates etc. I am already a member of Clipart.com and AnimationFactory.com, neither has what I am really looking for Photo wise.

I have tried going the Ultravertex route, but after not being able to download anything and never receiving a reply to any email I sent them, they are X in my book.

I have also looked at templatemonster but they want you to buy a template and then they will give you a 6 months subscription to Ultravertex for the misc. Photos/clipart (Catch 22). You also have to agree not to use the photos/clipart on any other design. This is useless considering the reason I want good photos is for designing some web sites.

I have also checked into other sites, but while I don't mind spending money for a membership, paying $50.00 for a photo to use on a website is way out of my range.

Any suggestions?

Many (most?) of the images posted at US government websites are in the Public Domain:

A lot of stuff has been released under the Creative Commons license:

Great site, thanks! MorgueFile doesn't sound so appealing, but it is a great resource!

The term "morgue file" is popular in the newspaper business to describe the file that holds past issues flats. Although the term has been used by illustrators, comic book artist, designers and teachers as well.
