How do you create your own parking page?

I'm interested to know if anybody here has been successful in creating their own parking page instead of using parking services... can anybody offer any advice?

Is it too much of a hassle or is the extra revenue worth it?

Simply get a webhost account, put something related to the domain on the page (links etc) thenput adsense thats about it

There are several techniques for creating a decent parking page for your site. Depending on how much work or money you want to invest will determine what you need to do.

If you've got some spare cash laying around, you can also buy a prepackaged AdSense setup that relates to your domain. They're easy to setup (just edit one file) and they are pre-optimized for YPN, Google, and Amazon.

One that I'm particularly pleased with so far is http://www.adsensepages.com/

If you don't have much spare cash, you've still got options. One that I have used in the past is http://searchfeed.com/. They offer several ways of integrating their content into your page.

If you're not afraid to hack away at a little PHP, another method I've used is to display RSS feeds from related sites (of mine) coupled with affiliate banners, AdSense, and Google Search. You can integrate RSS parsing. I've actually produced a script that integrates an RSS parser in a clean XHTML/CSS template that can easily be used for this purpose.

The original concept behind this script was monitizing your error pages (400, 404, etc), but it can easily be adapted as a domain parking script, just change a couple variables and customize the ads to suite.

Basically, a domain parking page is nothing more than another website. Many are single page websites, but that doesn't always have to be the case. My advise is to be creative. If you do something that looks like what everyone else is doing, chances are your site won't get many clicks. If you're creative and present content that is relevant to your domain, you can substaintially increase your CTR.
