I am about to leave this place as there are nothing to do here.

    1. Wanted to buy section:
    - Sellers - send crappy names or did not read the requirements
    - Buyer - Flirting around and buy nothing. I just sent some names from a thread wanted city names with budget $1,000 - They sent me an offer $20 on each name. WTF???? It's not enough to cover renewal fess and this member is not new.

    2. Appraisal: keep begging appraisal with crappy names or TM names.

    3. $1 Auction - Keep bumping the same thread for 100 times.

    4. A lot of lazy newbies with stupid questions: How can I sell name fast. Where can I sell name fast.

    5. Whenever there is a question and answer thread. Some Smarta$$es will google and prove that they KNOW Everything.

    6. A lot of members trying to be cool. They always deal with $1 names but post in a thread that has an LLL.com for sale "PM me the BIN".

    7. And there are a TON of nonsense questions in other areas:
    - What's the best name you like
    - Godaddy stole my name
    - What do you think the market will be 10 years from now
    - WHO CARE _ WHO CARE?

    8. I own IAmStupidToRegisterMASTERCARD.com - Do I have Trade Mark Issue??????

    9. Wanted One Word Dictionary Word - budget $500 - DREAM ON.

    10. Wanted to buy: Budget $2 per name. WOW

    and MORE>>>>>>

Nothing can be SOLD here unless it's under $10

This seems like an annual post https://www.namepros.com/threads/i-am-done-here.1097811/

    https://www.namepros.com/threads/too-many-wasting-time-threads-time-to-clean-it-up.1125400/

There is never going to be a high volume of high dollar deals here

People are always going to ask questions that have already been answered

Who gets to define nonsense? As someone told me last week most old timers only post nonsense these days. I didn't agree but that was their definition of nonsense, so who gets to decide that? Namepros is not going to do that, just so long as a member posts within the rules, they can post what they want.

Most people want something for nothing

Most people want to get rich fast.

Either you place people on ignore, ignore certain threads, accept the business for what it is, or you move on.

Domain Wanted threads can be improved I have said it before that there needs to be more of an emphasis placed on being specific. Budgets need to be within a tighter range, sorry you don't have a budget for $1 or $1million that's just used because it gives the poster free range to be looking for cheap deals but can't be called delusional or a cheapskate. They use that so they can say I have a $1million high end budget, no you don't.

Namepros needs to start making that section tighter in my opinion.

There are two root causes to all the issues you mentioned:
    1. NamePros has a lot of new and/or inexperienced members.
    2. Domain investors love to buy as cheaply as possible.
I don't think either is an issue in itself. The problem is really in how we react.

In the case of newer members looking for easy answers, take the time to educate them about the industry. The more that experienced members are willing to do this, rather than complain, the more we'll be able to foster an informed and helpful community.

In the case of nonsense, time-wasting threads, simply ignore them. Some of the members use NP as a social forum, and that's fine. They're allowed. But if anyone is violating forum rules, don't be shy about using the Report button.

In the case of poor quality marketplace threads, just do your best to make sure your own threads and responses uphold the kind of integrity you want to see from others. Give constructive feedback to those who are unclear in their requests. Report those who ignore your criteria when submitting names. And above all, recognize that there are still decent names available to buy/sell on here, if you're willing to put in the time to find them.

Be the change you want to see. The more we do that, the more others will follow.

I wish there was a better way to connect serious buyers and serious sellers. I have bought tens of thousands of dollars of domains over the years @ NamePros. This includes many 4 figure deals.

I am still an active buyer, but at this point don't really use the WTB section. I have found it is a waste of time and resources. It doesn't matter how specific I am, I will mainly get spammed with unrelated crap.

On the other side people want domains worth $5K - $10K+ for $50 or $100. It makes no sense.

You have a bunch of buyers and sellers with wildly unrealistic expectations.

This is the one I find funny, because it really is true, not just in auctions, but in all sales threads.....and the worse the domain is, the more bumps!
    3. $1 Auction - Keep bumping the same thread for 100 times.

Yeah, I think NamePros should really put in check the amount of worthless posts a thread can have.

Posting bump 100+ times on the same sales listing over weeks, months, years. At some point there just needs to be a limit on how much wasted space these can take up.

With people bumping these so often it is very easy to miss other posts.

    I see some deja vu(s) --> https://www.namepros.com/threads/i-am-done-here.1097811/ https://www.namepros.com/threads/here-are-what-i-have-learned-in-the-past-15-years.1091178/ https://www.namepros.com/threads/the-domain-business-is-getting-to-be-a-joke.1080722/

Please stay or leave @johnn, these kind of threads are like an old stories on IRC days as "i'm leaving the channel or quiting IRC" etc.

You should understand that creating these threads usually won't solve the problem, actions need to be taken than just wasting time within typing over and over.

However, there'll be always newbies and professionals, so whole process is just an ecological balance.

People generally don't read rules, maybe some videos casts should be pinned at the top of each forum section.

By the way, maybe you're upset that you can't sell your names here upon your expectations, maybe you're probably more depressed and trying to to blow off steam.

P.S: Just seen that @equity78 has mentioned similar threads before my post.

See some, instead of answering the original post, or subsequent posts, go after the thread starter.
See this in many threads....someone asks a question or posts what they feel is right....and bam...attack the poster and not the question or the post.

Thanks for the feedback, as always, @johnn. It is appreciated, but you only need to tell us once. We have good memories and a logging system for feedback, so it won't get lost. :)

    To address your points:

Unfortunately, these problems are far more complex to solve than they are to explain with words. Additionally, the solutions that you believe are best may not be best for everyone.

As an example, we could modify the rules as @equity78 suggested to require that budgets be more specific. However, that would limit the usefulness of the section for some members because certain types of domains can vary widely in value.

Let's say you want to buy .com domains that are a single word. Depending on the popularity, pronunciation, length, and many other factors of the word, the value of the domain name could range anywhere from worthless to millions of dollars. If the buyer has a budget of $50,000 to spend on strong words but is also willing to buy long and difficult-to-pronounce words for $10, then the buyer should be free to request that. The purpose of those buy requests is to start a conversation between a buyer with an appropriate budget and a seller willing to sell a relevant domain within that range. The price they settle on is between them.

In short, the problems that are possible to solve will require new tools to be built that don't exist yet. The rest can't be solved because they're a matter of opinion and subjectivity. For the ones that can be solved through development, we will certainly try to do that in the future.

    We hope that helps.

Then start a second thread for the lower priced, but the section needs to be tightened up. Not just with money but with the requests, brandable is too wide, give keyword examples, etc... Up to $1million is not a budget, and no offense I would say most members here, believe few members here have the wherewithal to pay $1million.

Maybe like Uniregistry is doing, for big budget demands the buyer has to prove they have the ability to pay that. I know that won't or can't be done here, because how can you be sure an anonymous hentai avatar has a million dollars, it's fun to dream.

My opinion is that the Chinese domain investing boom brought big money into the industry. That big money brought a slew of new people looking to capitalize. Many businesses in this vertical grew and expanded during that time.

Since the decline of that boom, those same businesses, including NP, have had to cut back. Big investors have changed their direction, but what remains are many of the new domainers still looking to make a buck.

In the last few months, I have made purchases here on NP into the mid $xxxx.
I have been offered as much as $2500 for a single domain via pm.

Yes, I do agree with John's points but I think NP is what each person makes of it.

I read blogs too. The comments can be ridiculous. But the bloggers keep blogging.

We are here for buying, selling, relationships or knowledge. All can still be found here.

The cool thing about it is that we can come and go as we please. No need to announce either.

I have never thought of NP as a primary place for end user sales.

This is kind of like my own semi-annual rant to myself about keeping my names with GoDaddy.

Yet I remain a GD lifer.
