How can someone fake their page rank?

When checking out a domain to purchase I found it parked at GD only a little over two months old and when I checked it's PR it had a PR of 6. It also said it wasn't valid, but how can it even rank that high?

Tactic I see that many of a certain country do when trying to sell domains and sites on another forum.

But that would show up as "valid."

You can "fake" it (intentionally or unintentionally) by redirecting to a site with high page rank.
