Page Rank Question

Hello all:
I don't mean to sound stupid but I am a little confused when it comes to looking at the web sites for sale on this site. People sometimes talk about PR (which I take to mean page rank). How does a person find out what the page rank is for a site and what do the numbers mean? Lower number, better page rank or the other way around.

You can install the Google Toolbar on your browser which will display the PR of every site you visit. Also there are other tools like http://www.prchecker.info and http://www.checkpagerank.com you can use to check any site's PR. Google PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. The higher the PageRank the better it is.

Careful though. A lot of people seem to fall in love with PR, but ranking well in the search engines for your keywords is way more important.

PR is from 0-10
0-No PR
1- low
...
5- medium
...
10- High.

PR is not worthless but not a standard to evaluate domains in first glance

A steady PR for a long time is a sign of well respected site

However good PR doesn't mean that you are the first in rank at search engine results of Google

Sites over 5 is a good indication and you can find PR 7-8 to some media giants, gov sites and related sites

PR is a meter not to be ignored but certainly can't stand alone in a domain evaluation
