Hi everyone. I would like to share my experience of using Hover.com. I don't like to talk about negative stuff but I believe it's important to share this and maybe you will think twice before trying them out. It happened about 2 weeks ago because I contacted Tucows regarding this but since no reply followed it makes no sense to wait any longer. I registered 11 domains on Hover.com. I've set up DAN landers as usual and everything worked as expected. Then suddenly 4 days later I get an email "Your recent Hover order failed". How is it failed if everything works? I contacted support regarding this and they said there was something wrong with the billing and now they will delete all my domains. I was shocked. I asked if the payment was reversed why not just proceed with the payment instead of deleting everything? He didn't explain just said they need to do this. I spent several days of hard work researching and picking these names and now after successful registration you just removing them. More than that, 8 of 11 names are still resolving but I can't do anything with them because they don't appear in the Hover account anymore. Sure some have positive experiences with Hover. But after this occurrence and seeing zero interest in resolving the issue I just want to stay away from this registrar. Maybe avoiding them will save some of you some time and effort.
I don't know why some registrars do weird things sometimes. My experience with Epik is that they even make facility of payment and even their CEO Rob is always present and kind. You can use domain tasting with epik and decide to drop the domains after 5 days and all the services behind epik are great, like the hosting, the security, Masterbucks, etc. Try them and tell me. Ps: i don't have any contract with them, i just wanna help and share how wonderful this company is
Thanks for sharing your experience with Epik. I tried them and satisfied with how things work. But I would like to keep this thread on the topic, Hover.com
Sorry this happened to you. Try to use reputable domainer friendly registers like Dynadot, NameSilo, Epik, NameCheap. If you bought on some kind of promo there might have been terms you missed.
so i didnt quite get it..was there really a payment prob..or that part they made up? regardless if there was.there should still be better ways to handle it..however the title of your thread is bit misleading as at first glance one may think this happened for no reason at all.
Agree that there should be better ways to handle it. Like just trying to pay one more time instead of deleting properly registered and functioning domains. Maybe I wouldn't worry that much if the domains were just random ones I decided to reg out of the blue. But these were carefully researched names I spent several days on.. Guess that's a lesson to go with a trusted registrar for anything important (like Porkbun and all mentioned above by karmaco). I hope the title won't mislead anyone since everything is outlined in the first post. But honestly, it actually feels like there is no reason, at least not a proper one.
I just hoped to find the thread you mentioned but there are so many.. Can you please briefly expand on why it's an equal place to namesilo?
no I cant that's the point someone said it to me it's also not equal.to ns but u know...diff people diff views. the thread was about someone looking for new home for his 500 gd names.
Oh okay, I see. Well, they oftentimes share similar pricing. But supported tlds differ and most of the time Porkbun is significantly cheaper. So despite any similarities, I totally agree they're not equal. Still would like to keep this thread to be about Hover I wonder if there are other people around here who have a similar experience with them.
well u the one who asked.. sometimes we can get good prices on less known registrars...but often they come at a cost of other issues. did u regret those names elsewhere?
I agree, guess it's always a risk to try a small registrar like that. Have to say that I've seen bad reviews on Trustpilot prior to registering names. But a few positive ones and Tucows as the owner gave me hope.. Sorry, can you reiterate the question? Not sure I got it correctly
If your domains were in new tlds, it's possible this was due to a pricing error on hover's end(i.e. premium priced as standard). Which extensions did you register?
No, I can't because 8 of 11 still resolve to my landers but I can't do anything with them (like change NS or transfer to a buyer) cause they don't show up in the Hover account. That's crazy. And the other 3 are at EPAG registrar with RENEWYOURNAME.NET nameservers So it's like I own 8 but I don't, feels a bit unsettling
