I know that Apple has HUGE issues with production in china. They had plenty of time to diversify their production locations and failed to do so. And now it's coming to haunt them at a critical time.

Still, when Apple announce their headset then no doubt the hype over VR will begin again, and the Quest 3 will be coming out in October to benefit from it all.

Well I'm cointinuing to drop Holos. My business model was never selling domains - I came in here because I had a shared interest in buying future tech domains and monetizing them. It's harder to do that these days, and I can't honestly see the term holo having any keyword importance, even if it does get used often for branding purposes, in the next 10 - 15 years, and by which time I will be either dead or retired, lol. Does make me wince thinking of the $$$ I've spent on renewal fees.

Well I think most of that is just insider fighting. 2 groups in Apple basically want to take the HMD different paths.
And you are correct, When Apple announces, even if it is some time before physical release, all ships rise with the tide.

As I have mentioned a few times, many of these HMD's have had enterprise in mind.
But here was meta's chance to take a good break out and truly lead a bit. Not necessarily in sales numbers, but tech capability in the consumer area. I understand why they would want to go down that path, it has a huge potential, but while they were working on this since before the pandemic, things changed a bit and they did not adjust their thinking.

So, they did adjust the price to be more consumer friendly when it was obviously not going to be a enterprise hit, but no promotion to the consumer.

So, Apple is probably the only one that can open this can of worms in the shorter term.

Nice. They must be planning on doing some AR stuff. I will say that several sites have started filming in front of a green screen, or video editing scenes so the actress appears in front of a green screen, so that the scenes can be viewed in 'passthrough mode' on the Quest 2 or Quest Pro. This is proving very popular already, and is being commonly referred to as AR. Given that the Quest 2 passthrough is blocky black and white, and the Quest Pro has only sold a few thousand headsets, I can see every adult VR site releasing each scene in both the VR and AR versions this time next year, when the Quest 3 is out, and color passthrough is standard. So it makes sense for them to start branding themselves XR rather than VR.

Yes, this is true, but what I meant was that at the moment, VR smut fans on places like Reddit are referring to these 'passthrough' type VR videos as 'AR smut', to distinguish it from the 'VR smut' with the original background. And as we know, the smut studios like Czech VR will pay attention to what the fans are calling it, and not what is technically correct. And of course, even if they do come to call it mixed reality, then XR is still the best name to cover that and the conventional VR stuff.

If and when the true AR stuff that Naughty America are doing with their volumetric scanned models becomes more popular, then I guess it's likely that people will become a bit more precise with their terminology and see that passthrough is not true AR.
