The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Virtual won't work on that extension except for maybe Virtual Games or Virtual Casino...but even those are hard sales...

Just my opinion.

And what are Virtual Stocks?

And who (what kind of company) would need a domain like "vmarkets"? If you just started domaining, head over to Domain Sherpa and watch every interview before wasting more money.

I agree.

stocks are for trading.. forex.. exchange in VR. good stuff under right exxtension

I have longtail: virtualrealitystocks..com

couple low 1XX offers declined last year.

cheers

One thing I'd like to know...
How many people here have domains for AR/MR/VR/XR/Holo and have never experienced VR in any of the formats.

I have the Samsung headset and S8. Got it before I got my first reality domain.

No, but I do plan to see Ready Player One when it comes out next week, LOL.

Actually I've had the Gear VR for over a year (with the S7). I wanted to get the Samsung Odyssey Windows MR headset but they didn't release it in Europe, so I'm going to wait for the Oculus Go.I'm going to book a HoloLens demo next time I am in London. If the Magic Leap developers edition does come out this year, and if they are promoting it as an entertainment device straight off the bat (unlike the HoloLens) then I might consider buying that if I am feeling flush come xmas.

That article sounds like bullshit. I highly doubt anyone with insider knowledge would go out of their way to contact some nobody site like that. Look at that site.... Its highly unprofessional, grammatically and in it's .presentation. It even warns you that the article might be bullshit...

Clickbait desperate adsense parasites writing whatever it takes to get your attention...

Yes FB is likely announcing new hardware soon, but that's old news....that author is pretending like the info originated on his shitty site lol...

I've tried the Gear and PSVR

Gear is horrible. Screen door effect. Pixelated horribly. Fuzzy vision. Like looking through a dirty fish bowl and a screen door at the same time. Barely any feeling of "presence" if any at all.

PSVR was considerably better and gave me presence but still looked like absolute shit. I did get nauseated after 15 minutes and felt like I could seriously throw up and it wasn't even a game with a lot of virtualized movement.

I think VR has a future but maybe not nearly as big as it's been hyped up to be. I know it's going to improve but the problem is that I don't give a shit about giving it another try. I would 3 years from now to see how it's improved but the it's just not something I crave enough or have enough curiosity to want to explore more. VR as it is today is dead to me... Even though I'm sure the HTC vibe is probably even better than PSVR by a leap.

This does worry me a bit because I've invested thousands in VR domains, but I feel better knowing that I dropped a lot if VR and have invested in AR and XR early.

Every day it becomes more clear to me how important AR will be and how less important VR will be, compared to how it's been hyped.

It takes courage to think for yourself and invest in something most people are ignoring, but that's how you get ahead.

Now I'm crossing my fingers and hoping AR to try AR someday on a headset soon..

I remember I couldn't wait for Avatar, I spent half the movie taking my 3d glasses on and off to see the different effects

VR Vs. On Speaking Terms

A Reporter's funny take on all the different "realities" out there - AR/VR/MR/XR - driving him crazy? (One can sympathize... ;))

I decided to buy the book 'Ready Player One' and read it before seeing the movie. I don't if any of you guys already have read the book, but from the first few chapters I can see this film adaptiion being very big for headset sales. The storyline should appeal to the entire male demographic, including middle-aged men who can remember the Eighties (maybe I come across as younger haha, but I am actually a child of the Eighties). The story looks ahead to the ultimate end point of video games - where we all live in virtual reality - and looks back from that point to the very beginning with the first Atari games. So I guess viewers might want to feel being part of the history too by buying their own headset, even if they are aware that the VR depicted in the movie is nothing like what's currently available, it might actually be an attraction that virtual reality itself is at the same stage as video games were in the 80's.

If you visit the registrar http://namecheap.com currently, they are showing a graphic of somebody wearing a VR headset.

Maybe they noticed that I have about 500 VR names with them and they are hoping to attract other future tech domainers?

well I am sure they noticed a lot of people with a lot of VR domains :)
in all kinds of extensions etc..

so sooner or later someone at namecheap asked the question... what the hell is VR

then rest is history :)

Posted this the VR thread:

"VIRP" is a new term for interaction in VR. Do you guys think that "virping" could someday have a future in domaining?

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Virp

https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/25/c...hich-is-pretty-much-where-were-headed-anyway/

IMO, it might be worth a punt on a name or two, but not more than that... I'm not sure Camsoda and RealDolls have enough pull on their own to pull this term into the popular lexicon...There are other more established terms (teledildonics, virtual sex, etc.) dealing with the same process that are already out there... (additionally, the term is an abrev. for "Virtual Intercourse with Real People"... who uses the word "intercourse?") If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on a term emerging like "Skyping" or something like that from another first mover.

PS - I placed my bet on the term "Virt" emerging as a colloquial version of virtual reality - So far zero sales and no joy in terms of adoption for popular usage that I can detect...:(
