    Put me down for still being excited about VR/AR/Holo... I know "crypto" has kinda taken all the air out of the room lately, but I still believe AR/VR and associated technologies are going to be game-changers (and great domain investments...); just as soon as the technology catches up to expectations... (And personally, I'm still getting pinged all the time by potential buyers for these names; the problem is they just don't want to pay what the names are worth yet...)

    I believe a couple of upcoming catalysts that should put some wings under AR/VR are as follows:

    1) Release of "Ready Player One" movie: If this Spielberg flick is a hit, it may ignite the popular imagination as to the possibilities of VR (BTW, it just had a surprise premier yesterday at SXSW, and people went nuts!);
    2) Softbank has created a tech venture fund worth 100 Billion dollars: To put the size of this one fund into perspective, in 2016, all tech venture funding combined was only about 100 Billion... This said, more venture funding means more ventures, and more ventures mean more domain names are needed...
    3) Release of Magic Leap One AR specs: If these glasses perform as advertised, then this will be the moment of liftoff for AR... (I mean, heck, this company is valued at multi-billions and they don't even have a product out there... I've gotta think somebody knows something!;))

    Let's hope the Oculus Go comes out in time to take advantage.

    I think this year will be an exciting year for future technology names . We have seen a few good sales with @gilescoley holo sale and a high end AR adult sale .

    Xr is still a gamble as it was a year ago but the growth in term of use with in relation to news articles companies etc i am happy with its forward movement .

    The xr page is great fun as a source for the latest xr reality related articles .

    With diffferent companies ie facebook magic leap google snapchat etc things are moving forward . Ready player looks very exciting especially for vr growth .

    I am hoping for more posted sales this year and wish all good luck with sales too .

    I think this is very important for holo names, at least in the 18 sector. The interesting thing is they are firmly branding themselves as holo, yet are looking forward already to the Magic Leap etc.

    sold few days ago... theVRblog...com
    1450$ gd premium (thats a bin price)
    solid domain.. I have feeling if I had put bin 3k on it.. it'd sell too.
    but it is what it is. nice roi. renew some other stuff

    keep getting low XXX offers on all kinds of VR domains

    also had 2 offers ... around $500 each.. for 2 VR .com domains I let expire last year.. they stayed in my afternic accnt on makeoffer.. and well.. someone did make it :)
    I obviously wanted to shoot myself. but .. I did not.

    still have some cool theVR+kw.com domains.. like:

    TheVRnews
    TheVRmusic
    TheVRdating

    and 10-20 more.

    all the good ones are taken.. as usual.

    this was my 2nd thevr+kw sale.. I had last year thevrfashion..com.. 800$

    someone dropped a ton of holo domains today.. well.. like 20 or so.. all held from 2011 or so..
    it wasn't spectacular stuff.. so maybe someone was just renewing average stuff since 2011.. but it was fun to watch them pop on screen...

    I took 2:

    holodriver
    holosoldier

    .com

    @alcy congratulations on your sale!

    I take it as a very good sign of the strength of the VR market that names starting with "The" are selling at such strong price points... In my experience, this means that the same names without the "The" (in this instance, VRblog.com) will sell at 10X-20X the "The" version price (And we all remember the famous "TheFacebook.com" vs. "Facebook.com" difference in domain pricing - Substantial! ;)) In any event, good news for owners of both "The" and "Non-The" VR domains...

    Above aside, kudos again on a great sale!

    PS - Bummer about the VR names you let go, but getting stung for a couple of $500 sales, while regrettable, is certainly survivable... (It's when you see one of your drops go out the door for $$$$$ that you really want to shoot yourself... Stick around long enough, and you'll get to have the joy of this experience... Of course, you can always salve the wound by remembering you picked up some other guy's name on the drop and sold it for $$$$$! :xf.grin:)

    Domains starting with "the" have high sales data on Namebio, so I am not too surprised to be honest.

    When I started domaining (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth!), domains containing "The" were equivalent to having an alternate extension or a hyphen - a "second best" option, as they would bleed traffic to the "Non-The" root domain. (This was important, because parking actually paid back then...(y)) Now, perhaps this equation has changed recently, as limited availability/high-pricing have pushed Buyers towards other options, but generally I think it still holds true.

    For instance, looking at namebio, I think "the" domains have a high avg. sales price because the only "The" domains that sell at all are generally those with the strongest kws...(Similar to hyphenate names...) I think it is more instructive to look at namebio "VR" sales and compare them to "TheVR" sales... "TheVR" sales have a much higher avg. sale ($3300), but there are only two of them listed, vs. VR with an avg. of $1550, but over 1000+ sales... (I think you'll find a similar pattern across most kws...) So really, IMO, a comparison of apples and oranges... ;)

    Of course you would rather have "news" but "the news" is still pretty strong. i didn't even to look at "the vr" examples. It was a blanket statement ...... domains with "the" can still be of value, cheers
