Hi all,

I noticed there are several premium domains with the .hk extension free for hand registering. Is there a reason why (maybe expensive reg fee) or is there really no future with the Hong Kong domains?

I'm not sure that the registry actually allows them to be registered but you can try.

I believe everybody can register .HK but I don't know if these domains can be valuable ones.

Not every ccTLD works on .com premium domain principles. So what might be a great domain in .com may be a poor performer in a ccTLD where the local language is not English. This .com premium effect is quite common with ccTLDs. It may also be a reflection of the size of that ccTLD's market and regulations.

Probably the reason is: Hong Kong is not a country, it's belongs to China and it's a very small place -

I haven't check what is the reg. fee of a dot HK, but it is said that you should pay HK$500 for a dot HK domain name transfer. :(

I think Asiaregistry does .hk for $69.
