.mobi High Dollar Collectibles VS internet future

This may be an off topic thread for .mobi ,

but How many people have thought about liqudating some of there Hobbies from youth or inhertince collectibles "But Mainly High Value collectibles" that are worth money (NO HOMES, WIFES OR MOTHER IN LAWS) to buy nice .mobi names ect... or a nice .com/net name

Here are the categlories that I am conteplating:
Baseball Cards, Books, Coins, Stamps, Comics ect.....

For me, I am conteplating selling some rare books and coins that date back to the 1800's to the mid 1950's...from my family which are in my possesion now (To me the there just collecting dust now) or maybe the Baseball card collection that had been collected since the 70's.

.....I wouldn't sell them all, But I would love to sell maybe some of these to further invest in my .mobi site development/names or some nice .com name. Anyway next week I am heading down the city to get some of these appraised by at least 5 different dealers.

I guess the point of this thread is "Should I Sell them or not or should you sell your collectibles for potential of a brighter future"

I would love to hear any fellow namepro's comments if they ever considered this...I have been thinkin this for sometime now.

Hockey cards, coin collection, Swarovski crystals,... I could probably free up 10k for .mobis if I were to do that...

Yep Besides -- if it takes off, you could buy back all your stuff, and then a whole lot more

And thats the risk some of us have to take, it could be nice though. I just don't want to work for anyone again that tells me to come in at a certain time every day and then pays me 2-3 weeks late most of the time

I have a few things that are family items, and I dont really think I should sell them, but they literally just sit in the back of a closet, and I think if we did sell them we could utilize the money for something more worthwhile - like domain names!

Yup it was somone trying to advertise something and I just reported him. We should tell him to go to ebay for that lol...thinking of this topic

if you have to sell your stuff just to buy .mobi names then you basically cant afford to be buying domain names. I would put that money toward something else or keep your stuff.

In my case I am choosing to sell an expensive toy to buy an asset that I think will appreciate, especially if I develop it. But if I start liquidating my IRA to buy domains then I have a problem.

LOL The only thing that has me worried, is that those renewal fees may come back to bite me in the butt! Already looking at around $4k a year That's a big loss if I renew these for several years and nothing materializes...

Typically, I was making between 4K and 6K a month selling on ebay (same name). I have been specializing in southern pottery and antiques for more than 30 years. I was doing this on a very limited basis. I am a packrat as my previous careers led me to art, folk art, documents, anything southern made and old.

I have not done much of it lately. Come to think, damn forums taking up too much of my time.

I'll put some into domains. But it is also cool not to have many bills or car payments. That money can go a long way when debt is erased which is exactly what I did.

Baseball cards? Tens of thousands of them. My prize? Actual lineup and dugout score sheet and roster with Lou Gehrig's and Joe Dimaggio's name written on it. I did such a good job hiding it I am not sure where it is. I'll find it.
