FORGET THE PLASMA… THIS TV CAN FATTEN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT
This is the one TV that appreciates with time.

The web is moving fast forward. Social networking, video sharing - a picture and some text just isn’t going to cut it anymore. These are exciting times, and DOT-TV has wrapped itself around this movement. It is rare to find a .TV website without video, as they are becoming one in the same. To have a “pseudo” site might in fact cost you traffic. Visitors looking for WidgetTV.com will at some point type in Widget.tv first, because that is what they will be conditioned to do. Unlike other TLDs that have been injected into the system, .TV actually caters to the natural growth of the web.

Video based sites are more robust. You can provide concise instruction, introduce your company to a prospective employee, sell your product to a captive audience- even say I Love You more personally than ever before. The .TV website is the exciting, realized future of the web. Unlike other TLDs, .TV makes an individuality statement. Yes, it is hip and cool, but it also provide the clever edge a business needs.

Now where can one find a selection of truly fine .TV domains? Only at the .TV PrimeTimeAuction, of course…

Running for a full week, there will be daily online live auctions held at AuctionSite.tv. There will be hundreds of names up for auction, including such names as Democrat.tv, Gig.tv, Confession.tv, Pal.tv, Dormitory.tv, Map.tv, and so many more.

.TV PrimeTime Auction

08/06/07 – 08/10/07
Auctions start- 2pm Daily

This is an incredible opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there.

smash, wow, you ARE good. To me, that reads really well. The length seems fine to me. Maybe it could include a quote like the "Richard Rosenblatt: This is the time for .tv" (or some quote) when you're talking about the "growth of the web". I got stalled on the phrase " because that is what they will be conditioned to do" for a few minutes, it hits me as a bit Orwellian. Maybe something like "because it will become intuitive to do so". Just a though. nice work.

As always, quality work Dottie! Length is fine IMO.

I would just say it might look better if your contact details were @auctionsite.tv ??

Just a thought.

Smash, I like the Hook, nice job with that. The ad is too long though, I'd tighten it up some and move from passive to active voice. What's the venue, who are the targets?

Fast forward your life on the web. With social networking, video sharing and more, these are exciting times, and DOT-TV is the epicenter of change. TV means streaming video around the world and the DOT-TV extension is the catalyst for creation on the frontiers of the internet. Unlike other TLDs, DOT-TV drives the natural growth of the web with living color, motion and sound.

Video grabs peoples' attention, and directs it where you want it, whether it's to introduce a product, recruit prospective employees or get out your message, nothing's better than an actively engaged audience. Even say "I Love You" more personally than ever before. Your .TV website excites. It realizes the future of the web, Today.

Here's what I did with it, tried to keep your ideas and just punch 'em up a little with more imagery. Even this could use some more work to make it less repetition and increase the impact. IMHO. Just my style/take on it anyway.

Cheers,
~KC

PS I don't know if DOT-TV is the best form or not, but be sure it's consistent everywhere so newbies don't get confused ;)

Hey Smash.

Unfortunately, this reads too much of an advertisement. PR needs to be "newsworthy" otherwise no one will pick it up. I was a marketing manager for Lexus for nearly 6 years and I have a couple suggestions:

1) Change the focus and led-in of the release to "this is the first-ever .tv auction." That should be your big news. All other paragraphs following it would then explain .tv

2) Add a quote if possible from DemandMedia (although you would then need to run it by DM or whomever the quote is from). Otherwise, add a quote from any significant person at Namepros. For Example: "Dot- tv has more potential and excitement right now then any other extension" said XXX, CEO of Namepros.com, the largest domain-dedicated forum on the web. "This is a very unique opportunity for the domain reseller and end-user communities and one that should not be missed."
It's often easier to write your own quote and send it to Namepros for approval/revisions then to try and get a direct quote. You can also quote yourself as CEO, but it's often less meaningful.

3) Mention of other big players such as TNT and DemandMedia's me.tv. This will help give it some legitimacy beyond just "at some point....you'll be conditioned to do so."

I'm sorry I don't have time to draft up the actual changes, but I hope these suggestions will help point you in the right direction.

Cheers

thanks dc- appreciate your suggestions!

i will do some tweaking tonight, there is no need for anyone to rewrite the release :) demand media has nothing to do with this and will not be mentioned at all- my pm and email to them pertaining to this was ignored and i just have a deep lack of respect for the way they run things- demand opened a door, thats it- it is US who is keeping this train running-

this is not a demand debate, but if anything wonderful comes of this auction, it will not be because demand had a hand in it- they obviously didnt feel it was worth a reply-

This just shows what a poor excuse of a company Demand media really is!
They should have jumped all over this opportunity at free advertising! If it wasn't for the .tv domainers they would be in a pretty sorry state by now. It is we that have kept this extension in the limelight and have done all the work so far that is needed to increase it's value and popularity within the general populus.
Each one of us is akin to an unpaid sales rep for DM and to be ignored by them will ultimately be their downfall. JMHO.

Len.

P.S. You are doing a great job Smash!

Just going to jump in and back up Mike here. I agree that it needs to be more "newsy" and less "car salesmany"

Don't get me wrong Mistress. Yours does sound great, but to me it just needs to be more of a business like press release and not go for the happy meal folks.

For a press release, I think they are right also Smash. My Gfriend was a journalist (copy edit for the news desk) for a couple of years at a regional newspaper. I'll have her take a look at it also.

Where exactly are you sending it?

Thanks,
~KC

maybe press release is the wrong word- this isnt going to be viewed by journalists at the new york times- this is going to be submitted to domainers news sources, newsletters advertising, dn journal- etc...

Sorry, I thought this was also for the general public?

If all we are going to get is domainers to the sale.....well, we may as well have it here because we seem to be THE domainers for TV.

If we don't get big players/end users.......what market are we going for?

Not trying to be difficult, I just had an entirely different thought on who would be marketed to.

I agree Smash. You can probably be a little more informal with this release. You have a great foundation there - just try to position it as "the first ever .tv auction" and I think you'll maximize the impact.

Good luck!
