I am shocked to receive an email from HEXONET, that say beginning May1, 2019, even for a transfer to another Hexonet account, they need Authorization code and we need to pay One Year Renewal charges too. Please read the details below:
ear Valued Customer,

Beginning on May 1, 2019, the transferring of domain names internally between HEXONET accounts - from one HEXONET account to another - will be processed and billed as follows:

New gTLDs (aka "nTLD" or "newTLD" like .CLUB, .SHOP, .APP, etc.) - CHANGES
  • Transfer requires the authorization code (auth code) of the respective domain name
  • Triggers a one-year renewal of the domain name (extending the expiration date by one year) if processed
  • A one-year renewal fee is charged to your account (only if the transfer is successful)

Legacy gTLDs (.COM, .NET, .ORG, etc.) - NO CHANGE
  • Transfer requires the authorization code of the respective domain name
  • Triggers a one-year renewal of the domain name if processed
  • A one-year renewal fee is charged to your account (only if the transfer is successful)

ccTLDs (.DE, .CA, .UK, etc.) - NO CHANGE
  • Transfers require the authorization code of the respective domain name
  • NO renewal of the domain name is processed
  • NO fees - free of charge

If you have any questions, please contact Customer Support at [email protected]

Kindly,

Your HEXONET Team

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It was always.
Internal transfer at Hexonet requires 1year renewal by the gaining account.
The same with 1and1.

Wow, that is concerning information to domainers. Thanks for the heads up @Haroon Basha
Are there other registrars who already do this (or have announced plans to start doing it).
If this becomes a trend the effect will be huge for domainer to domainer transactions.

Such practice is traditional with German registrars, as stated above. Didn't see any other examples.
Internal transfer is processed in the same manner as external.

This doesn't impact the enduser sales.

I never paid the Renewal fees for incoming domain names at Hexonet.com.

I paid for internal .PRO transfers at Hexonet... when I actively used it... It was a few years ago.

For Resellers, Retailers it will affect.

Looks that no changes, except ccTLDs (Hex just stopped this practice for them).

I received them from another domainer...
So I paid for additional 1year (like transferring from another registrar).

Probably, their volume of ccTLD backorders has increased significantly... and too many internal moves...
That's why ccTLD policy was changed by Hex.

I have read your message one more time...
And it is clearly stated there that changes are only regarding nTLDs.

So ccTLD internal transfers were always without renewal.
And legacy gTLDs were always with it.
