Hi Everyone,

I was browsing Godaddy and I found out I need to fill the W-8BEN form if I want to be paid for the names I sell on their platform ( did I get it right or I can finally breath again??? )

Now my personal situation is a bit strange as I am an Italian citizen but I have been living in Australia for more than one here even if I am still on a bridging Visa as I am still waiting for the fast Australian government to approve my other visa.

Anyway..
How am I supposed to fill that frigging form? It says I need a TIN..( which takes something like 12 weeks to have ) or is my country Tax number enough? I sold names on Sedo and I haven't been asked for that form...HELP! :'( :'(

I read the instruction to fill the form but it was a bit too complicated as full of US related corporation terms which I have no idea about.:O
Any help will be very very appreciated!
Thank you in advance pros.

It also seems that I can avoid to put the ITIN whatever in the form but that then I will be taxed 30%..WTF?

US & International pros I need your help!

This is an easy form to fill in (mostly blanks). You probably won't have a TIN, so just put in your tax number on the right. I never completed the TIN/Tax Number section and I'm not being charged any withholding taxes.

It says I need a TIN..

first, IANAL :) , better to get a laywer to help you, but here is what I understand

I had requirement for same, so I did some searching.

See 232238-need_an_itin_number_for_a_w_8ben_to_work_for_a_us_agency

AFAIK .....

Writing ITIN or your tax# depends on the tax treaty your country has with USA.

ITIN is not required for all cases. It is not for every non-USA citizen earning some USD$ from a USA based company. I also read in some tax pdf that ITIN is not compulsory.

I think non-USA citizens/residents with small earnings would leave it blank.

But every case is different, so again, IANAL!

Thanks.
I have read online that many people simply leave it blank....I am bit confused and I don't want to take 30% off my earning.it's crazy!
