imo, prior to outbound marketing and prior to registering a domain, you should already have a solid game plan for selling the name. This includes gathering some specific info about the name that makes it a valuable asset to the potential buyer.
When I first started out someone told me if I was prepared to give a sales pitch over the phone and prepared to answer all questions a potential buyer may have then I'm ready to sell the domain. Trust me, there is more to this than you think. Just wait until you are the one being asked "why would I buy this name and what will it do to benefit me or my business" it is an uncomfortable feeling to be caught with your tail between your legs and not have the answers. If you don't have the answers, they will just hang up on you.
