Help with buying a laptop

Hi,
Im interested in buying a laptop. It will be like my main computer so will need to run xp with adobe cs2 and dreamweaver 8 and some other things. I need something that will be fast like a desktop but not spening £4000 on a super amazing laptop. I also dont want a desktop processor in the laptop. I was looking at the Acer Ferrari series. You can get a AMD turion 2.0ghz processor and 1gb ram for just over £1000. It looks pretty good. AS AMD are said to run faster than intel, will the AMD run like a 3.0ghz intel then?

Any other sugestions will be cool. Cheers

No, it's not that big of a difference. An AMD and an Intel both at 2.0Ghz will appear to run the virutally the same. I like the Acers, but you need something with support. It's fairly hard to fix a laptop. Most of the time, you have to find a laptop that was like yours that is being parted out. I went for a Compaq because it was easy to find parts for. You also want to check the battery life. Most only last for about an hour unless you want to spend a few $$$ more on the super battery thing.
