I'm confused!! Not that it takes a lot to confuse me these days. I don't understand where the value is in an LLL or LLLL LNL etc. I don't understand why someone would register a domain which is a mishmash of letters and letters and numerics let alone why someone would pay hundreds or thousands to buy one of these.
What am i missing? What on earth are the "premium letters" for these domains? i.e why is an "e" better than a "Q" (if it is? If i had one and parked it how would i figure out a category or applicable keywords?

this has been helpfull... but still :p
If you have LLLL.coms which represents words that would be great (then I would understand it's value). But aren't you suppose to take domains which you can easily find in the top row of google?
cause sometimes i see 300$ for ktds ... then I could easily ask 1000$ for aouzdhaioushfzdaozdhf.com

I don't about his real world friends... OP is surely more confused now than when he started. I'll try and simplify stuff -

I felt like that for the first six months on NP too... don't worry its normal... even if more than slightly contagious. Even filter was a normal human being till he joined (one month after you I might note)...

LLL are the most valuable coz there are only 17.6K in existence... for each and every TLD - ccTLD or gTLD. Of which there are almost 300, so you have to pick them more carefully than the LLL ;)

LLLL are also valuable however only in .com - there are 500k in existence... again for each and every TLD - ccTLD or gTLD.

LNL/NNL/LLN .coms are worth $200-$2000 depending on the combination, .net are worth between $15-$450, etc. Most other TLDs these type of names (called ccc.tld) are usually worth 3-4x reg fee.

If you don't know what reg fee is I'll recommend reading the forum for as long as it takes to make you understand.

Actually you will find most questions you might have, answered on NP, most of the time in depth and with arguments for and against the logic to enable you to make your own decisions based on your own life experience (or lack thereof).

What you're missing is the boat if after six months on NP you still need these questions answered. If for example you had purchased 1000 LLLL.com's in aug/sep last year for $7k it would have been worth close to $40k now. But don't worry, a lot of people lost this ooportunity (me included - even though I kinda saw it, I just assumed they'd last forever)...

For which letters are premium see http://3character.com - their price guide is cool too.

If you don't already have them you're going to end up spending a pretty penny getting them now... parking is the easy part - put it on auto optimize to start with or find relevant keywords that your traffic is looking for.

As someone said to me on NP - stay AHEAD of the curve in this game to make any money.

L = Letters (ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ)
Premium Letters = ABCDEFGHILMNOPRST

V = Vowels = AEIOUY
Premium Vowels = AEIO

C = Consonants = BCDFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWXZ
Premium Consonants = BCDFGHLMNPRST

N = Numbers = 0123456789

Example, Buy Now! Don't miss! Grab it Now! I has :-
- LLLL.com = ABCD.com / LNLN.com = A9B3.com / CVCV = BAJE.com
- Premium LLLL.com = OPSS.com / Premium CVCV = ROHE.com / Premium VVCC = AEMN.com

:imho:

Even if you don't personally see the value of an LLLL.com you can still see the market for them. Just take a look at recent sale prices and what domains are going for on any of the aftermarket sites.

Take a look at the LLLL.coms availabe on Sedo's auction list. For example see the LLLL up for auction in my signature.
