I started trying to renew 2 of my domains on 11/18/06 (expiration date was 11/10/06. I kept getting messages that they were unable to renew. Every day several times a day, I tried to renew them, but to no avail. I called several times and they just said that they had a system problem that would be resolved way before my 30-day grace period. Finally, on 12/05/06, they went through, and I received confirmation that the renewals were in their queue, and to allow up to 24 hours to complete. After 48 hours, I started to call and all they would say was to keep checking back, and they would not even look into my account. I also sent a support trouble ticket, but continued to call over and over, holding for hours.

12/11/06, I received a response to my support ticket, where that stated the issue has been resolved and domains in process of renewal.

On 12/12/06, I got an email with renewal status stating that they were unable to renew my domains. Livid, I called icann, who asked me to email them the details with all supporting documentation so they could get involved to help resolve this. I did.

Today, when I checked on my domains, I found that one of them is now owned by someone else.

I am so mad, I don't know what to do. Can you all tell me if you have been through something like this, and if I have a chance to recover my domains? Also, is there any kind of attorney out there who handles stuff like this?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Oops, I just saw the sticky thread with attorney info....

Please still send me your feedback

Thanks

if the domains were so important to you, why did you wait til 8 days after they expired to try to renew them?

My advice is to switch registrars and make sure you renew sooner in the future. I dont think you stand much of a chance of recovering them, because they're already owned by someone else. I'm sure you could get a lawyer and sue the registrar, but I doubt that would go very far, because they do a pretty good job of covering their umm assets... their TOS usually eliminates their liability for anything pretty much.

Don't want to beat a dead horse, but, "Registerfly"?

Just guessing.

Advice? Contact their new guy here - he seems willing to try to win some support back, this would give him that opportunity.

Icann will certainly take interest in this. That is a lot of hell you are going thru and wasted time. Good luck.

That's the first thing I thought as well.

Hi all, and thanks sooo much for your responses. I want to first address the waiting after 8 days question:

I've never had a problem with this registrar in the past (yes, of course it is registerfly), and since they have always handled my renewals (and all other transactions) right away, I wasn't too worried about it. I was out of town, so I just waited to get back. I even tried to transfer them away during this mess, which of course was not allowed because registerfly was supposedly in the process of renewing them.

Anyway, I've learned my lesson with them. I am definitely going to start transferring my domains the hell out of there. :yell:

Thanks again everyone- and please continue to throw in your opinions, as your knowledge and support helps me to get through these "lessons".

Thank you Thank you :xf.love:
