Have you done your HIV test this year?

Many people think to do not be at risk even if they are not drug users or they are virgin or they do not have sex without protections.

Is it worth it the risk to find too late that you got infected?

I advice everyone to have a test , possibly every year so that IF the result won`t be good , at least you`ll have more chances to live longer, even 20 or 30 years these days, plus you`ll avoid to infect your partner or other persons by mistake.

Please read this news , but be aware that there is an image of a person having a blood test, so if you don`t like to see a needle then don`t open the link below.

I`m afraid to tell you that sex is NOT the only way to get infected.

Doing tatoos/piercing , going to the dentist , have a surgery or other hospital treatments , go to the barber , plus many other situacions that may be dangerous if the tools are not sterilised.

Think this way: if ALL people around the world had done a check , probably the epidemy was much more under control.

I had my last HIV test about 10 years ago. I'm married and we are both faithful, so I don't need it. :)

10 years ago is a long time.....I`m married and faithful too but for the above explained reasons , I do my test every 2 or 3 years maximun......and it does not cost me anything since I do it together when I check other normal things like my colesterol or my iron.

Your above explained reasons are not sufficient reasons to get tested. I am not at risk.

HIV is transmitted by sexual activity and/or sharing needles with HIV infected persons. It can also be passed from an HIV infected mother to her child at birth. The risk of infection from other sources is negligible, even from oral sex. Blood transfusions haven't infected people since the 1980s in developed countries. Blood drawing needles and dental implements are sterilized. Contracting HIV from haircutting tools is a ridiculous idea. I don't have any tattoos... but if I were going to get one, I'd make damn sure the tattoo shop used a sterilized needle (they all do anyway, unless you get your tats in Crackville).

Brian, I did not mean to say that you are at risk. I meant that we ALL are at risk.

Your info are correct except one: In France there have been huge scandals in the early 1990 due to transfusions with infected blood plus if you consider that I posted this thread for all people not only for the Usa, you may see my point.

Too many people think that since they are not drugs users or they do not have sex , then it`s not possible to have a risk.

I also would add that many people do not worry at all about Hepatitis B and C.

I don't have any surgeries. But yes I go to barber :D

I haven't ever checked for HIV :) About sex... I would not like to mention it here :D

Even if I am HIV positive or negative what does it matters now if I am having the disease all it would do me is bring me more High Blood pressure and more worries and I might not be able to live properly.

Moreover I think if I go for a HIV test the person who is going to take my blood sample for the test will use a non sterilized syringe and I will go there and get infected :(

Yes I do give bad words to the barbers if they uses the same blade which have been used before. So they always uses a new one for me.

I didn't take offense, but I disagree. We are not ALL at risk. Here's the CDC's recommendations for whether or not you should get tested in America... http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/testing/resources/qa/be_tested.htm#tested There are a helluva lot of people who aren't at risk and don't need testing.

My Mom has Hepatitis C. My Dad, I and my two siblings do not. She unknowingly had it for years from a past medical procedure, but she still hasn't passed it to my Dad, even though they took zero precautions. It is scary, but the fact is, it is also not usually passed except through sexual transmission or infected needles.

For Blood transfusions I don't even know my own blood group till today. I haven't been in hospital bed before in last 26 years and I thank the all mighty god for that. I am not such a healthy or health conscious person. All bad habits I have in me :D

Moreover I have told my wife and my parents that if something ever happens to me don't give me someone else's blood. I don't want that. I might commit a suicide if I come to know someone's blood is running in my veins :(

Sorry but I think I am psychologically having a problem with that.

well I agree on that one....unless you have those specific religious beliefs that deny it , but I hate just to see blood as well so I can understand you.

The virus of the Hep C is luckily weak and does not survive long out of the human body while the Hep B virus is more resistant.
I`m sorry for your mother and wish her good luck in her fight with Hep C.

How about a Mosquito bite? Doesn't it works as a syringe? What if the mosquito bites a person who is having HIV AIDS and then bites someone else.

Also what about a cook who is preparing food and is HIV positive and while chopping the onions he chops off his finger and the blood falls on the food and yes if those people are losers then they will surely put that remaining onions in the food :(

I had your same questions many years ago and after deep research I can tell you that mosquito bites do not carry the HIV virus but can`t remember why.

Instead the situacion of blood in your food may be an additional one to my above written rare cases to be at risk. Surely if the food is cooked no worries but if blood is fresh , HIV viruses can live up to about 15 hours exposed to air.

Oh come on, I did not say that I`m sure it`s a risk plus it`s already rare that a chef will cut himself , plus it`s rare that the chef has HIV.....You can`t live in a bubble, just be normally careful but still people go to eat out everywhere.

Humm.... then according to this. I think I do eat food 100 times more in my life then I have sex. :D

Having a sex with a partner that doesn't have HIV and then having a sex with another partner that also doesn't have HIV, doesn't creates HIV itself. It might only be effecting persons who are having a sex with already infected ones. Am I right?

So the probability of chefs having HIV and cutting his finger is lets say 100 times more then a normal guy having a sex with an infected person without any protection.

What if a chef has HIV and he cooks everyday for 1000 people and he might be having a slight cut on his finger or something like that every 100 days. So he is infecting 1000 people in one day instead of a person who is going to have sex for money. Because the person who is having a sex for money will also not infect 1000 people in 100 days. h eheheh 10 people per day :D

Anyway my ideas were all over the place when I thought on this subject and then in end I concluded that to hell with HIV and AIDS who cares. :D
