How did you get the offer? (whois, listing?) I would counter but don't go wild (unless you find something while doing research on the source of the offer)
Yeah, sometimes it's hard not knowing the exact source of the offer ... I'd suggest countering REASONABLY via email (not Sedo auction), and proceed promptly to safe & secure escrow after successful ngotiations with this one interested buyer IMHO. :talk:
Thanks Jeff, I always have that hesitant feeling when selling a name, especially when i havent actively approached all the thousands of possible end-users first :bah:
You just have to type Condo in google to see how many there are. I guess I need to be more proactive
Skip sending it to auction. Others always like to do this but it always seems like you are alienating the prospective buyer, I'd rather haggle one on one.
If it's a free email address just google the beginning part of the email address "googlethispart"@whatever.com
People are lazy & creatures of habit it might turn up a username that is used elswhere by the same person. Could give you a better idea of who you might be dealing with.
Thanks again for the good advice, I have checked the username and there are plenty of possibilities, I will go through a lot of them and see if any match up in any way.
If you need fast cash (i.e. because of renewals etc) accept the offer with no countering.
But if the sale of this domain name wouldn't change your next days, well, try to make a reasonable counter offer (i.e. if he has offered you $200, counter with $350 but declaring yourself open to negotiations).
If the buyer is really interested, he would increase his base offer.
