Hello,

It was purely by accident that today I discovered the special Appraisal section of the website (not the forum) which can be accessed by clicking on one of the drop-down lists in the right part of the screen. Quite frankly, had I not noticed it, I would have probably continued bugging everyone at the Appraisal forum and worrying about bumping threads.

The problem is, there's very little indication that such a tool actually exists. This is an amazing section of the website which presents all appraisal requests in a concised and uniform manner, making it easier to examine them.

I am not sure if I am the only person who failed to discover the tool earlier; what I am proposing, however, is some sort of greater publicity for the Appraisal section. Maybe a sticky in the Appraisals forum saying that there is a special sub-website reserved exclusively for appraisal purposes.

What do you think?

Regards,
George

Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you enjoy that section of the site. It's true we haven't publicized it much.

Here's the section George is talking about,

Does appraising domains pay you any NameBucks? If it doesn't, perhaps it could be used as an incentive? Thing is, I am convinced that the Appraisals section is potentially vastly superior than the Appraisals forum, as the information is presented in a more accessible manner, while considerably reducing the need to "bump" your appraisal request.

With regards to NameBucks, here are some of the steps that I'm proposing:

- Using the Appraisals section to appraise domains should be rewarded with NameBucks

- Being the first to appraise a domain should yield more NameBucks, as this will encourage people to appraise all domains and not just the recently posted ones. The way I see it, this would result in people actively looking through the Appraisals section, looking for domains that have not yet been appraised by anyone, thus reducing the need for "bumping."

- "Spam appraisals" (i.e., appraisals which are little more than wild guesses made to earn some extra NameBucks) can be prevented by rewarding people who report spam appraisals. This will encourage people to appraise as many domains as possible while at the same time reducing the risk of people abusing the system by posting worthless appraisals.

- NameBucks reward should be subject to the 30-day no-reward rule currently in place on the forums

What do you think? I realise that I am very new to these forums, but I do hope that at least some of my suggestions above have some viable potential.
