GreatDomains wanted to list a name and they offered me low XX,XXX as reserved price and 2 times the reserved price as Listing price.

one needs to sign an agreement to list on GD. And GD has the rights to accept the offer and sell the name on your behalf if the offer is greater than or equal to reserve price.

I'd heard of some real good names that were sold for reserve prices.

As i believe the potential value of my domain name is more than the offered reserve price, i have rejected their offer.

what i don't understand is, why there is a huge gap between list and reserve prices? Is that because they predict the market variations on the name's value?

does any one have any ideas?

I don't wish to hi-jack the thread, but I received a notice today saying they will not accept my domains, but I may well receive notification in a few days saying that they will accept certain domains.

What are they on about?!

I would accept whatever prices www.GreatDomains.com offers you. I have had over 25 names listed on their website. I never sold one of them. As far as I know, I never even received any type of offer, at a lower price, or even at the reserve price.
I don't know what your domain name is, or how good of a name it is. I wouldn't ever expect someone to pay the listed price, though. Especially if the reserve price is $xx,xxx. I am not trying to blow your bubble, or anything like that. If it is a really good name, I think www.GreatDomains.com could help you sell it. You have to be realistic, though. None of my names were that good, the best being listed at $25,000. I still have 9 or so one there.
If you don't list your name at www.GreatDomains.com, what are your plans to sell it, and how?

Good luck with it.

I agree with you. I have accepted the other names to list on GD.

i will wait for an year and then list on GreatDomains. I don't have plans to sell that name in the near future.

It is listed on SEDO & AfterNIC currently.

That is a good idea. If it is a good name, it will never hurt to just "hang on to it" for a year!! It will hopefully only be worth a lot more.

Ya. that's the reason i was wondering why there is a huge gap b/n list and reserve prices?
I know ppl who had to sell their good names for reserve prices...at GD.
And after the sale some got re-listed on GD itself for double the price !!!!!
