Sedo is excited to announce that GreatDomains’ first premium domain auction event will begin this Thursday, July 19 at 2:00pm EST. GreatDomains’ premium auction events are held once per month running for a period of seven days.

GreatDomains was recently acquired by Sedo, the leading online marketplace for the buying and selling of domain names. Sedo has brought this industry pioneer new life with the introduction of monthly auction events for quality domains and a newly designed site, while it continues to be the location for the finest domains available for sale. All domains featured on GreatDomains meet strict criteria, helping buyers to find the gems they are looking for while sellers benefit from personalized advice from the most experienced brokerage team in the industry.

“The GreatDomains platform benefits from an enormous amount of goodwill having been the first-to-market” Says Christian Kalled, Director of Sedo’s North American Brokerage Team. “Coupling this powerful legacy with Sedo’s innovative technology and global reach will greatly enhance value for both buyers and sellers alike.”

Hope to see you all there!

Will these name be restricted to dot coms?

Yes. All domains featured in auctions on www.GreatDomains.com will be .COM names, in tradition with the services offered prior to Sedo's acquisition of that marketplace.

Anyone can still search for any extension suing GD's interface. However, the search results display only .COM domains by default, and only those names will be auctioned through that platform.

All other domain names can be listed for sale for free via an account at www.Sedo.com.

Have a great day!

Always,
Keith

What ever happened to the names i had forsale at Greatdomains.com?

I took me a while before Greatdomains.com listed a kopple of my domain names because their selection was very hard......they aren't .coms...does this mean they just will go up in the gigantic Sedo.com domain name database?
Or will Sedo.com do something special for the domain names (non .com) allready listed at Greatdomains.com before Sedo took over the place?

Wealth.com and markets.com seem to be the best. Are there reserves on these names? I couldn't tell. Should be interesting to see if any of these sell. As with many that did not sell during Moniker's auction, there doesn't seem to be any development done on these sites.

Sedo,

can you give us the answer you gave levd by a pm? I am interested in the answer to his question if the names that are not .coms will just default to the Sedo listings.

Hi Keith.

Will you allow 2-word generic .com domains in the future?

I have submitted a few, but only archbishop.com was accepted.

I found stockquotes.com is not a one-word domain, but doing well than some of your one-word domains.

Please PM info or let me know please. Thanks!

Hi Ron!

Much of the decision is based on the phrase that the two words comprise. Keep in mind that "stock quotes" is a very common phrase, and could be considered almost as common as "stocks" on its own. Really, the best way to find out would be to submit an application if you're not sure.

Just remember: two random words, or words that make a phrase that isn't common in conversation may be more likely to be rejected.

Also, a reasonable reserve expectation can play a part in the brokers' desire to auction a name.

Good luck!

Always,
Keith

Does this question need to be asked again or can we all know what will happen to the non .com names listed at GreatDomains previously?

Hi everyone!

At this time, www.GreatDomains.com will be reserved for .COM domain names only. This decision was made in an attempt to uphold the tradition of that marketplace, as well as provide a forum for high quality domain names with the widest appeal.

Visitors to the site will still be able to find any domains that are listed on Sedo by adjusting the search filters. Currently, however, only .COM domains will qualify for the premium auction events, although there may be some exceptions for Top Domains listings on Sedo itself. If your domain is not a .COM but has other qualities that may make it valuable in the domain aftermarket, I encourage you to apply for that listing. Keep in mind that the requisites are quite similar to those for a Premium Auction listing. For reference, the criteria are below:

» The domain is short, a real word and is easy to remember
» It is a generic domain, e.g. like car.com, creditcard.com or books.com
» The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors
» The domain is product-related and therefore has a high commercial value
» The domain doesn’t violate any third party rights (e.g. trademark rights)
» The TLD geographically matches the language of the domain name

So long as your domain meets most of the above requisites, it will be considered by our brokerage team (all applications are carefully reviewed). With that said, though, I encourage you to make sure that any domains you own are listed in a Sedo account so as to take advantage of the world’s largest online marketplace. I hope that clarifies, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Good luck to you all and certainly keep the open dialogue going!

Always,
Keith

I must have missed your answer to what happened to the domains GreatDomains had previously accepted. Are they all invalid now? Do the signed agreements no longer apply?
