Got potential big interest in my domain, hopes too high?

My one word .tv domain hasn't had visitors in months (it's essentially a blank page, I've done nothing with it so far) and then alI of a sudden I got 8 visits in the last month from someone on the ISP "amazon.com inc". Conservative thinking tells me its someone browsing from their Amazon EC2 instance (virtual machine in the cloud), but wishful thinking tells me its Amazon interested in purchasing my domain.

Are my hopes too high? What's the reality? What should I do at this point?

P.S. - I very new to domaining

yeah, you sound new

don't be so ready to jump to a conclusion based on nothing

unless you get a phone call, an email, a letter in the mail or a knock on the door....then no one is interested until they contact you.

best thing to do is make sure your whois info is correct with valid email and phone number.

Good Luck!

imo...

You might want to park it at a place that allows you to have a for sale link at the top. It makes it more convenient for possible buyers to contact you.

I wouldn't worry about what that may have been. Instead, get the page parked someplace where people could submit an offer or purchase the domain directly. Honestly, it was probably an Amazon bot or something like that - but you never know! Better to be prepared just in case it is that best case scenario!

I wouldn't park it tho. Best thing to do is throw up wordpress, create a 5 page site and after 15 days add adsene BELOW the navigation

will this yield more revenue than just parking? how often would the content need to be updated

Well, honestly, all those things are easier said than done. Since the Google Penguin update, small sites do not earn revenue as easily as they used to. You will likely have to use good SEO tactics and promote it to get any traffic that actually adds up to revenue. It can take months or even years to get traffic from search engine results alone (with a 5 page site that is). I recommend sticking with parking unless you are really willing to put some time and effort into developing the site.

"develop a domain" gets tossed around a lot... I have experience web designing and developing, but I imagine that's not exactly the same as "develop a domain"... what exactly does that detail?

"develop a domain" means just that: develop it because it's unlikely to sell.

but develop it into what exactly? I'm sure there's specific outlines and do's and don't's when you want it to eventually sell to a potential buyer or domainer versus developing for a real niche, company, blog or VC/investor.

but develop it into what exactly?

:talk:

develop it into a spaceship!

every website starts with a domain name, that's what develop means or implies

typically one tries to develop the domain name around it's related subject, theme or idea.

imo....
